Iowa is going to be tough for the next few years
They started 3 freshman, a soph, and a Junior. Of those, the junior scored the least tonight. They have 1 senior who is not very good, and bring in 2 more players next year. Woodbury, nice he adds some muscle. Could be a beast down low. Jesus, the thought of losing to Hesse guys the next few years is unbearable. Fred better have some studs lined up to compete with these guys, as their youth will only be getting better as the season goes on and they age.
Fred also appeared to be totally out coached in this one. If Iowa didn't make some boneheaded plays, they would have won by 20! Horrible showing tonight....

ISU had 15+ TOs and the starting 5 had 3 players score 5 points.....
The ISU womens team could have beat us tonight.

But I thought Iowa had too many goofy looking white guys? How can they be good?

We've got young talent as well, Iowa not even in our conference who cares. Home team should always win this game

Sad white has more vertical than Niang and Gibson

No that team sucks. I'll gladly pound the likes of Purdue, NW, Minny, Illini against them and lay whatever chalk. Don't see many conference wins for them. They deserve credit for wanting it more. They also got a lot of calls when the momentum could have turned (and poor decisions from Lucious to cancel out the good things he did.) Iowa is awful ISU could have been as lazy as they wanted in Hilton and won by 20. In Carver they couldn't pull it off.
Its really pathetic that a team who has beat noone other than BYU would show such little urgency in a rivalry game. There is nothing Hoiberg could say to these guys they collectively decided at halftime they didn't need to work hard to win a game that was there for the taking since they finished the first on such a good run.

Re: Iowa is going to be tough for the next few years
Fred's transfer idea might start costing him in this series with Iowa going forward? Iowa is VERY young and will only get better over the next few years. I'm not so sure we have much young talent?
I think Morris and Thomas will be good next year, but not excited about anyone else coming in at all. I think SDW could be good eventually. I actually think SDW could end up being like a Devyn Marble before he's done at ISU.
But right now, Iowa has a lot better young talent than we do... by far.

Should, but looking at tonight, won't. Look who we lose after this year.... Now look who they lose. If you had to bet, would you honestly take us straight up over them next year at home? I certainly wouldn't! If they happen to find someone who could make an open 3, it will be even uglier. And rumor has it Jok is looking like his old self again, and his outside shot supposedly looks fantastic! Add in that transfer kid from Wisconsin who also is supposed to be able to knock down the 3, and it just seems like they are going to be a very solid team for the next 3 years at a minimum!

The NW team that just beat Baylor in Waco is much better.
As is the rest of the conference if you go team by team.
Their arch rivals somehow decided they didn't need to try in order to win. This mentality was reinforced when ISU was able to lead at halftime despite not trying in the first half.
McCaffrey got helped by his counterpart not gluing Clyburns *** to the bench.
A good team would have won by 20-30.

Fran McCaffery really surprises me as a coach. He is very good. Iowa will be very good in the years to come.

A good team would have won by 20-30. So if a good team would win by 20-30 points? What does that make a team that wins by 9?
