And go rematch the game. He certainly had a prescience about him on defense. While he didn't block shots or rebound, go ACTH how many times when he was in the game we even tried to go down low. Not everything can be measured in the stat book. Well, maybe you can. Anyone know the splits last night when Woodbury was in the game vs not? I'm going to guess its roughly +20 or more! You're not understanding what I'm saying. He was 4th best player on the court last night because our guys didn't show up. If Clyburn, Ejim or McGee would have shown up, he would have been even further down the list. I'm not saying he won't be good eventually, but he's super raw right now.

Year one it was Basabe (who is overhyped, but a solid player), last year was White (and we saw what he can do last night), and this year it looks like Clemmons will be a kid who plays way above his ranking. I don't believe any of those kids were a Top 150/200 player!

anyone who didn't want Woodbury is a moron. Roy Williams doesn't fly to Iowa to go to Prarie Meadows.

Re: Remind me, why did we not want Woodbury?
Typical overreaction thread. Our team, which is better, or at least will be by the end of the year, doesn't show up for the game at CHA last night and some posters spend the rest of the evening asking why we didn't recruit their mediocre players that had better than usual evenings last night, especially when they had no interest in coming to ISU?
No wonder I avoided this site last night after the game - stupidity reigned the night.

I get it. We all hate Iowa. But that doesn't mean all their players are garbage and they don't have some nice young guys to look forward to.
We didn't ever factor into Woodbury because he was a lifelong Hawk. It was either Iowa or a big name school.
Saying he sucks or wasn't a factor is just butthurt and not objective. Woodbury
23 min
9 points
5 boards Niang 33 min
13 points
5 boards
Clearly both were factors. Maybe the biggest thing that Woodbury did was go cause one of our senior starters to pick up 3 quick fouls in just 5 mins of game action.

That's because he goes to Wild Rose.

Re: Remind me, why did we not want Woodbury?
Woodbury didn't kill us. Clemmons and White killed us. Not playing defense killed us. First we left the lane open for easy shots. Then, the outside was open and they were hitting. Turnovers... Woodbury took advantage of the situation. I won't say Woodbury won't be great, but he is far from their best player.

Re: Remind me, why did we not want Woodbury?
If Woodbury had been interested in ISU, I'm sure CFH would have gladly taken him. Those who way he was not much of a factor last night were not watching the same game I was. Iowa's defense is better when Woodbury is in there just because he is in there or maybe I missed all the drives by ISU's guards trying to get Woodbury into foul trouble.
Also, people have to realize that it is generally accepted that it takes a couple of years to develop a big man out of high school into a dominant Division I big man. No, that does not apply if you are Anthony Davis or someone like him, but with most big men it does apply. With the right coaching and development, Woodbury is going to be good for Iowa for years to come, unless he leaves early.......which could happen after maybe his junior year.

All of these kids had a favorite team growing up, most of which were not us. So you pose the question to the community that would be least likely to actually know, you get an answer you don't like, and you start questioning the staffs' recruiting strategy...
Hhmmmm.

Kinda like how Basabe was going to blossom, or Olesani, or McCabe, or May, or ...... The list goes on and on.
