Re: Should ISU have done more to keep Greg and Doug McDermott in Ames?
McDermott was just flat out bad here, 2-4 wins in the Big 12 a season wasn't cutting it. No signs of improvement in his fourth year either, things worked out great for both ISU and McDermott in the end with him going to Creighton and Fred coming in here.

it was one loss, although it sucked, this is a ridiculous idea people need to step back from the ledge

It will be interesting how CU is doing in three years. Right now, they have it going on.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: Should ISU have done more to keep Greg and Doug McDermott in Ames?
Is this thread happening?
There are a lot of questions that I could ask which have the same NO answer:
1. When I sit down, should I take a moment and punch myself in the groin?
2. Hot water seems to be coming slower today. Should I put my hand in there to check the pilot light?
3. Could I cut my toenails shorter by cutting off my entire toe?
4. Would my food taste better with a little arsenic mixed into my salt?
5. Should I throw rocks at students in class?
6. Should I jump out in front of the bus to check their brakes?
7. Could I put a railroad spike through my head and walk out alive like Phineas Gage?
Was this a serious question? It was seriously ignorant, so I'm wondering.

This thread is bad and you should be embarrassed for starting it.

Not joking. Second.
McDermott was just a terrible hire. Whoever made this thread obviously didn't watch any games during that era. There's a reason players bailed for other places like they were going down on the Titanic.

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd -

“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads
