Im not a basketball guru and dont pretend to be but it just seems that this team is perfectly fine shooting a 3 from 4 ft beyond the arc 5 seconds into the shot clock. I know that the three ball is a big part of the offense and CFH has given most of the guys the green light to shoot I just wish that when things were starting to go south they would work harder for a high % shot vs chucking up a long ball early on.
The nice thing about last year was that RW could and would take control of a situation whene the other team was making a run and could keep ISU in the mix. We dont seem to have that player who can consistently score or create for someone esle. When the threes or jumpers dont fall for this team we dig ourselves a hole.
What I saw yesterday were glimpses of good things and then the team would revert back to bad ball. All you have to do is look at the 3 point stats and it tells a big story. This group is struggling to play team ball. When they do it is fun to watch. They pass and find the right person to make the easy shot. What they did in the paint was a thing of beauty. Then they would revert back to rushing the shot from behind the arc. They shot horribly and their decisions were the same as offering up turnovers. They need to continue to focus on the high percentage plays and then they will be dangerous.
Days of Thunder. Nicely done :notworthy:
Freddy and his staff forgot more about Bball today than I have ever known so I hate to really say much. It just seems that when you have this style you are subject to the other team making a big run if you miss a few in a row and/or turn the ball over. All of a sudden a 2-3 pt game turns into 8-10 pt game etc.
Im not going to pretend like I could coach or play smarter just my observations.
Since there were so few fans at the game last night few have any idea what you are talking about. I too have some hope for the offense after our game last night. There were flashes of it awakening. Mel E. still is adjusting his play because RW is not playing anymore. Mel is not stupid he will find his nitch. It will start with Niang, Percy, Tyrus and Babb. The best thing about last nights game is they obviously worked on Saturday and made some progress after the loss to the sqawks. My biggest concern is still the defense. Kory L is just pathetic on the defensive end. Its obvious he concentrates on his offensive play but in my opionion the team could benefit the most if he would work on his defense. He just needs to play defense and run the offense. This team has a huge upside. Like Chris wrote, keep it simple, then develop a defensive mentality. The talent is definitely there.
