It all comes back to Stevie was "The Man" haha Does anyone else remember Stevie doing a sweet windmill dunk at some point? I seem to have this memory of it but I might have made it up in my head.

I must have been too young for all of this potential. Do you think Stevie would start on today's team?

If I recall, he didn't play much at the beginning of the football season but grew into a solid contributor throughout the season. I'll have to go back and watch the tape but I think he made some good plays in the bowl game too. I was there, and he deflected a pass in the end zone that was a huge play, toward the end of the game.

Stevie was possibly my favorite ISU hoopster of all time....hence my screen name.
My freshman year stevie was a sophmore, so I basically atteneded every game during the "elite"/ Larry Ball Era.
He lead the team and near the top in the confrence in Rebs, while only being about 6'4.
Favorite Stevie Game:
Elite 8 Season, ISU was playing Texas or OkSt in the big12 Tourney.
Tinsley was hitting Stevie with sweet passes for layups all game, and Stevie was hitting the glass hard too.
ISU was up by 15-20ish. Watch'n the Game with my Dad on break.
With 15 seconds left in the game and only 8sec on the shot clock, ISU was going to have to chuck a shot before the shotclock expired. I think Tinsley was just going to dribble out the clock and take the penelty. ISU crowd in KC was standing and getting pretty fired up for the Vicotry...Fizer runs up to the top of the key and says something to Tinsley....."I assume...let Stevie shoot it"...
Stevie comes off a screen and fires off a fade-way 3, as the shotclock horn goes off....and DRAINS IT!!!!
Crowd is now going Wild!!!!!
I belive it was Stevie's only 3 all year.
He finished the game with 20pts and about 15 boards...
Dad gives me a HighFive and says...." I think that deserves a Beer"..(was still underage)
I think ESPN name Stevie to the All NCAA GarbageMan team, during the Elite 8 season. All "Glue Guy" team by Sports Illustrated. I still have that issue.

Re: Stevie Johnson
Stevie has to be an all time fan fav, he played hard, was built like a beast but always seemed to be happy and smiling. He wasn't a superstar by any means but he got very little love outside of ISU fans because that team was absolutely loaded. He also didn't miss a beat after using his bball eligibility, he was a legit football player as well. Just a great athlete. IIRC he was from Beaumont (Sp) Mississippi or something like that, how did he end up here?
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

Stevie was a nice guy too. Everyone on campus loved him. And yes, Ejim really reminds me of him, especially how they both hustle for rebounds, etc... I think Melvin may be a more skilled player than Stevie, but he's not even close to the athlete Stevie was.
