Re: Rashad Vaughn
Not to mention, in Fred's system, Vaughn would have the freedom to do whatever he wants. Pro guard lineup, spread out for a lot of 1 on 1 matchups. Would love to know where we sit with Travis though, could be a great combo if they were both interested in us.

If we could get Vaughn and a stud big man in that 2014 class the 2014-2015 season could be epic. Even without the stud big we'd be fine for that year but need to get one badly for the future.

Some encouraging things in there.

Re: Rashad Vaughn
I like how he said he wants to get down here for a couple games, not just one.

Re: Rashad Vaughn
I think we are in a lot better shape than most people are giving us credit for. It will be tough to land him but I think we'll be in it until the very end.

Re: Rashad Vaughn
"Vaughn said he was unsure when he might pare down his list of offers to a smaller group of schools to consider, but said it may have to wait until after the season. “I’m really just focusing on the season right now,” said Vaughn. “I haven’t sat down with my parents yet. Iowa State will be in (the conversation).” He mentioned a relationship with the coaching staff and a desire to play in an up-tempo system as priorities when picking a program. Vaughn, who has already made multiple trips to Ames, plans on visiting Hilton Coliseum this winter. “I think I’m going to try to get down there for a couple games,” he said."
I know we shouldn't get our hopes remotely close to up, but if his priorities are relationship with staff and up tempo style how can we not be a major candidate as many debbie downers on here are saying. We got on him early and if we make him (which we have) a priority and keep building a good relationship (and maybe beat Kansas with him in attendance ) I think we have a legitimate chance with him. We also have Freddy (MN and NBA background), Hilton, uptempo style, and an automatic starting spot as selling points. He also mentions us in most articles. I've also heard he will most likely stick to the midwest, but that part is not so convincing with Dirty Cal, and other "Big Boys" crawling all over him. Anyway I'm done ranting and saying my thoughts no matter how much value they have. If all else fails we always have Travis, Abu, and O'Mara to think about.

Absolutely! Consider how close we are geographically to his family, how personable our coaching staff is, and how the program is clearly on a resurgence. There is no reason not to think the sky is the limit for us. We were RIGHT there in 2000. If the coaches can "sell" it to Vaughn, I see no reason why he wouldnt want to be at ISU.

Re: Rashad Vaughn
Every school in the country would have a starting spot for him immediately, I don't think that would be much of a selling point. Now, if you want to say he can come down here and be the star of the team, then that might be a selling point.
