lets finish this year before we start worrying about next year...
This might be good advice if I (we) were players, coaches, or other staff. But I am a fan. No amount of focus or effort by myself or any other fan will make a difference on this year's finish.
I'd never heard this before, either, but I haven't been following the MJD stuff too much; been too excited about the recruits coming in, and in fact had forgotten about him until cracking open this thread.
If he's not eligible until December, is it because of the timing of his transfer announcement? It didn't happen until late this summer, IIRC.
I think he has to sit out a calender year. Since he transferred at semester, he will be eligible after first semester next year. Thats the way I understand it.
Shame, we will need Jones and Bubu when we play Michigan next season...

I know we haven't even started conference play this year but I always like to look ahead. My picks:
1 Maurice Jones - his experience wins out at least to start the season
2 Matt Thomas - will be our best 3 pt threat
3 Ejm - I think the 3 is his natural position and he'll thrive
4 Niang
5 Gibson
thoughts?
Bubu in place of Jones to start the year. Otherwise, no changes
Haven't looked at their roster much; will they have a lot of guys returning from this year's squad?
Even if a few go pro, their team will still be good. Recruiting has been pretty good for them lately and will be good against this season.

three guard line-up:
jones
morris
thomas
ejim
niang/gibson
ejim continues to be the best player in school history who's started almost his entire career....to continually be expected to come off the bench in future starting line-up threads.
I like Melvin a lot, but I think both Hornacek and Grayer were better.
No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.
We desperately need someone around 7 foot. It just seems really hard to compete without a 7 footer unless you have extremely athletic "bigs" who are 6'9" or shorter.

I agree. We really need a big time post in this class. I don't want to see all of our talent at guard that is coming wasted in the next few years because we miss on all of our post recruits.
I don't buy the excuse that posts are too much of a gamble it of HS and that they take too long to develop. Other teams find a way to land impact bigs, so we should expect to as well.
If we're capable of landing Niang, Morris, Thomas and Custer, I see no reason why we can't land a true post player that is a top 100 recruit as well.
