Re: Niang's technical
I still find it quite odd that they used the video replay to determine whether to give him a T. That seems to open up a whole new world of regulation.

Re: Niang's technical
Everybody seems fixated on the wrong part of the NCAA rules. Here is the part specifically on player (and substitute player) technicals. The other part is on the bench (coaches). See B. Section 5. (Men) CLASS A Unsporting Technical Infractions Art. 1. A player or substitute committing an unsportsmanlike act including, butnot limited to, the following:a. Disrespectfully addressing or contacting an official or gesturing in such amanner as to indicate resentment.b. Using profanity or vulgarity; taunting, baiting or ridiculing another playeror bench personnel; or pointing a finger at or making obscene gesturestoward another player or bench personnel.c. Inciting undesirable crowd reaction.d. Contacting an opponent, while the ball is dead, in an unnecessary, unacceptable and excessive manner.e. Flagrantly (severe or extreme) contacting an opponent while the ball isdead.f. A flagrant noncontact infraction that involves extreme, sometimespersistent, vulgar, abusive conduct when the ball is dead or live.g. Participating after having been disqualified (noncontact flagrant 2technical).h. Leaving the playing court and going into the stands when a fight maybreak out or has broken out (flagrant noncontact infraction). i. Fighting as in Rule 4-26. "There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

The Big 12 officials have enough chances to make calls for KU while the clock is running without stopping the game to do it in addition to that.

Get back to us when ISU hits a three pointer during half time or warmups and the refs put it on the board. That's KU's exclusive level of the Big 12 being fixed.

This seems like the more relevant rule, but it doesn't address why and how they are dialing up the implementation this year. Seems like there may be some unwritten rules that refs are supposed to enforce, like the rushing the lane violations which was a big deal at the beginning of March Madness last year, but tapered off by the end.

"like" wasn't the right thing for that. I want to rep the phantom 3, but I have to spread it around. Amazing find.
