Update on Matt Thomas
Did not see this article posted anywhere. Sorry if it has. Thomas finds his stroke : Onalaska Hilltoppers -
Re: Update on Matt Thomas
Can't wait to see him and Morris get to Ames. Best guard tandem we have recruited in a decade.

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
Super excited to watch him play this weekend. Making the trip to watch him and Vaughn. He is going to start next year. I don't see anybody else beating him out.

“I finally found my stroke,” said Thomas, who’s averaging 29.8 points per game.
Some slump! -

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
What I almost find more encouraging than his "sharp -shooting" skills is that almost every article I read talks about his ability to drive to the basket and create from there. It's awesome to have a great 3-point threat (Jake Sullivan anyone?), but to have a kid who can both shoot and create off the dribble will make us that much more difficult to guard. Really excited to see how Matt develops as a all-around player donning the Cardinal & Gold!

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
I am going to head up to La Crosse and watch the game vs Aquinas (UW recruit Bronson Koenig) on the 31st. Should be a good matchup as Aquinas got the upper hand in the first meeting.

thomas has a great all around game. he's routinely double-teamed and can put the ball behind his back/through his legs and drive with both ways. has a great pull up jumper due to his high release. he won't have quite the sized advantage in college, but remember matt is 6'4" 190 - he's pretty strong.
i think one of the reasons matt has "struggled" with his shooting is he's taking very tough shots, being guarded by 2-3 kids who's athletic highlight of their lives will be guarding matt thomas. koenig will be a good match-up, that kid is tough.

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
He has to be drooling to get into Freddy's offense. He seems to be tailor made for it.

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
Jake Sullivan did a lot more than just hit 3s. He was forced in many situations to play out of his comfort zone. He was a fantastic player for ISU all around.

Re: Update on Matt Thomas
I was at the game mentioned in the article. Looked like he jammed his thumb or something early in the game, because he was constantly grabbing at it, shaking it. Kept passing the ball instead of driving it, only dribbling with his left hand, etc. Then he went off in the second quarter. Easily could have gone for well over 40 if that hadn't happened.
