When you head on the road to play in a hostile environment and you hear someone talking about inappropriate contact with your mother it tends to at least get your attention more than a "you suck." The Harrison timeframe was a good time, because they would usually try to get in a fight with Homan. Talk about getting the crowd fired up!

Powerful stuff. I would probably have bladder problems myself if I heard someone rip that off!

The ISU student section used to be the same way. Between making the entire section CA, the restrictive atmosphere of CA at the time, and the terrible basketball of the McDermott era, this all died off. Its coming back, slowly but surely. There were flashes of it during the KU and BU games. But CA is still too cute, for lack of a better term. To paraphrase someone else, where are the grizzled collegiate alcoholics who haven't been sober all semester, and are looking to rip the throat out of anyone in the opposing teams' colors? They seem to by and largely have been replaced with awkward goof balls who are more interested in being on a jumbotron than watching basketball. It simply isn't fashionable to go to the basketball games and participate in the student section. It is a change I've noticed not only at ISU but also the high school level. Student sections have been taken over by kids that believe they are the ones on display (theater, band kids). I've never understood dressing up in random costumes (gorilla, banana, grandma, etc.). Wear some ISU clothing, catch a buzz, know the game, and harass the opponents.
Looks like many of you have touched on the same thing. I admit I didn't read the entire thread before posting.

Hits the nail right on the head. CA is one group of people that has been given too much authority. They don't accept anybody that will change anything because they are all too proud of themselves. IMO they really limit the possibilities of what the student section could be.

Re: Hilton Coliseum vs Allen Fieldhouse
Ok. So I'm sure it's been discussed, but what does it/will it take to get rid of the CA and just have GA student section so the die hards are there in front.
The CA, according to the vast majority on CF, is the issue. What's it take?
