ESPN top Freshmen?
I saw ESPN has an article ranking the Top 25 Freshmen. I assume Niang likely made that list, but I am not an ESPN Insider so couldn't read the article. NCAA - Men's College Basketball Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - ESPN -
Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
Niang did not make the list.

Not on the list. I don't follow college basketball to know whether that's an outrage or not.
The last three names were Josh Brown (High Point), Siyani Chambers (Harvard), Shaq Goodwin (Memphis)

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
Make's you wonder what they've been looking at. You know it's probably BS when guys from Harvard and the High Point Panthers are on the list over him...

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
ESPN does not always have a good feel of what goes on in flyover country. Nothing to get too worked up about. No one outside the Big 12 knew who Royce White was last year until like the last 3 weeks of the season.

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
They might have done most of the legwork compiling that prior to the conference season. Niang really never distinguished himself to the nation beyond those who were intently watching ISU games before the KU game.

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
I could care less. Every single game that's been televised, the announcers are well aware of Niang and how good he is/will be for ISU.
He'll get plenty of pub over the next 3 years

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
analysis was heavily stats based. great writer, niang just didn't make the cut (yet).

Re: ESPN top Freshmen?
I saw Siyani play about 12 times in high school, and once so far this year on TV. Georges is a better player at his position than Siyani is at his. Georges can play straight up against older players from the power confefences (though he still has his moments with the fouls). Siyani would/will be eaten up by PGs from the power conferences.
As far as relative impact to their respective team, Siyani has a much bigger impact. Harvard doesn't have another player that can match any of our top seven players.

He'll get plenty of pub over the next 3 years I'm not concerned, either.
If we're patient, we can get excited if he earns his way to Freshman of the Year in Big 12.
