Better yet, Royce should bring forward his preferred mental health professional. He shouldn't be the one to be saying everything about what is a "safe workplace." There are people whose careers and professional credentials are in this field. If he simply said who it is that he wants as the final decision-maker on whether it is safe for him to play, we might move forward in the conversation. So far, he has made it seem like he wants his family doctor to have that role (which is rather hard to consider reasonable). Sure, Royce trusts him, but why should the Rockets trust him? Is he a credentialed mental health specialist?
Now, going down the legality road......to in the end, after months of anxiety, make $25k after expenses?
He is no different than any other person who is fired from his business job. At first, everyone thinks they want to fight it. It is never worth it.
"For the sake of all fellow anxiety people, get to work RW. You are wasting the skills God has given you. You are kicking Kevin McHale in the butt with your demands. Now you are crusading on those semi sports talk shows. You will end up with little or nothing except your hashtags. Time to get rolling or you will be a history footnote."
A little bit more of the interview.
Royce White surprises radio station with call, says plan is to join D-League on February 11 - ClutchFans
Royce says today that he'll report to the D-League team on February 11th.
I guess he called in to a local Houston sports talk show that was discussing the situation. They say that the caller before was complaining that he won't report, and he was next saying that they are finalizing his reporting.
Of course, we all know that we can't count chickens before they hatch, but it's a possibility of a positive development.
McHale is very much his day-to-day manager and advisor. If you want to do a company analogy, Les is the owner, Morey would be the CEO or director, and McHale would be the first-line manager or perhaps an expert lead. I venture to guess 99% of the contact NBA players have in this hierarchy is with the coach.
