Why does everyone keep talking about the flying?

In every article & video that's been done on him he's said that the flying issue was taken care of & is not an issue now. He said he was happy with the travel plans he & the Rockets agreed to. He thought they were fair & had no issue the plans.

I'm not sure about the first part, but am positive about the bolded. If it works out in the end, he will have helped his cause and people will aplaud him for it, but until he gets through the hard part, people will bash away.

That being said, I don't know how successful he'll be in helping his cause because I don't think he cares that much about basketball and just figures its only worth it if he gets what he wants. If not, then he doesn't want basketball.

Travis Hines just tweeted and retweeted a blog that states Royce and Rockets are close to finalizing the deal, waiting on paperwork and he would be assigned to the D-league affiliate on Feb 11, the day after that team would play in Des Moines.

Agreed. Flying is still an issue, it's just that it would be handled if Royce gets what he wants. If Royce gets himself and his doctor the control he wants, it will inevitably result in him missing some flights.

It's hard for me to listen to this & understand how people can be fed up with & not like Royce anymore.

I can understand how a person could just be tired of the story & how it keeps coming up, but I don't think he sounds like a drama queen. I don't feel like he thinks he's entitled to something. Finally, I don't see how anyone could hate him because he's standing up for something he believes in. He thinks his mental health is more important than playing in the NBA, & receiving a paycheck.

He's chosen to stay at home without pay until there's a plan in pace, & if a plan is never put in place he's accepted that he might not ever get to play in the league. What's so awful about that?

I'm kind of surprised how many people on this site would be willing to bend over and compromise their beliefs for the promise of a big paycheck. Unlike most of you here, Royce is risking millions of dollars to stand up for himself. That takes a lot of balls. How many of you are willing to take that risk? Royce doesn't want a job that causes him excessive anxiety and stress. It's his choice, so get over it! If he is willing to turn down a lucrative career in order to have happiness and piece of mind, then I applaud him. We should all want that.

The recent developments are very encouraging. At the end of the day, it is best for Royce and the Rockets for him to be actively involved and engaged in the organization whether he is with the team or with their D-League affiliate. And to a lesser extent, is in Iowa State's best interest to see him succeed. Not because Hoiberg put his neck on the line, but because Royce is a former Cyclone. He is an incredible talent who was a huge reason for Iowa State's turnaround on the basketball floor and for that I hope he has great fortune in the league.

I have worked **** jobs before to support my family and make sure that they are protected from the poor house. If he has another plan for financial security for his family, great! If not, it comes across as selfish. Many times the head of a family has to make personal sacrifices to make sure his family is taken care of.

If he has it resolved, good for him. I hope for his sake he has. Odds are he won't have another opportunity for this kind of financial security.

I don't think its what Royce has done that has put people off, its the way he's done it. He's been immature and unprofessional. At time's, it's seemed more like he'd rather be a martyr than get back into basketball. The other side of it is, what concessions did we make at ISU? I know he drove to a few games but he had to deal with his anxiety here and things never turned into a circus. If it were as simple as you put it, then we would no longer be talking about he, he's not just turning down the money for his own well being. If that were the case things would have been resolved far sooner than this. The CBA is probably a good thing for Royce, not professionally but as a person. Maybe he wasn't ready for the NBA as a person, the CBA could be a good "baby step" for him to get to that point.

You really don't understand this? People put up with excessive stress in their jobs every day in order to get a paycheck of any kind and put food on the plates of their children. I would imagine if you polled the posters on Cyclone Fanatic several of them would say that their job sucks, but that it's a paycheck and they're damn happy to have it. THIS is why many people can't understand what Royce is doing and potentially ******* away millions of dollars for getting to play basketball every day. Very few people get to have fun at their job and get handed millions of dollars. Since many people suck it up on a daily basis to scrape by it seems that Royce could suck it up to be handed millions.

Like others have said in the past, we all put up with the **** he is going through, we just push through it. Also the way he is handling it is bugging me. I have panic disorder and put up with a lot of the same crap he for some reason won't tolerate. If I were to some day, hypothetically, go to the NBA and try to get a job they will look at me and go, "Royce White didn't work out, what makes you different?" The way he is handling it makes people with mental disorders look bad.

And very few people have the balls to stand up for what they believe in. Ya he is risking millions of dollars, but at the end of the day money isn't want drives everyone. I can assume he will be able to do something to support his family and make a comfortable living when he is done with basketball. I am glad he is going to be playing in the D league it is most likely what is best for him and his family. But saying that he should nut up, be unhappy, and play ball is asinine. He should do what is best for himself and his family, and that might not involve playing basketball.
