With White, Uthoff, Basabe, and McCabe playing the 3-4 position and Gessel, Marble, Oglesby, and Clemmons playing the 1-2 where does Jok get playing time? I would have thought Iowa would have gone after another true point or maybe another true big but not another shooter.
Ogelsby's minutes are there for the taking for Jok.

Exactly. Completely agree. Unless JO proves his worth the rest of the season Jok will take his minutes next year. Not like either are defense specialists but Jok has more offensive skill set than JO.

Iowa will field what looks like a pretty solid 2 deep next season.

Iowa will be pretty deep and fairly good next year. Glad we have them at Hilton. We'll need the home court to keep them for getting 2 in a row

    Re: Jok recruitment

To be honest, if there is absolutely anything Iowa needs, it is a spot up shooter. They are absolutely atrocious from deep this year(30%). Marble and Clemmons (only 9 made though) are their best shooters at 37.5% and 36%. And Jok at 6'7" will be a threat even with a hand in his face.

ISU has shooters for next year in Matt Thomas (widely considered one of the top, if not the #1 shooter in the class) Dorsey-Walker coming off of a redshirt, Long can shoot a decent percentage, Niang can stretch the floor as a big, and then you have Morris, Edozie, and Hogue who I don't think are great shooters, but I don't really know personally. Ejim is shooting a great percentage this year as well and I would not be shocked if he could be a reliable threat next year from deep.

Then you have to look at what the players we have bring as well, and none of them are just spot of shooters. They all have different skills and contributions to make. Jok may bring that, but there is no guarantee and he is basically one injury away from being a wasted scholly. I don't think ISU needed to take that risk, but it could pay off for Iowa.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."
    -Wally Burnham on Jake Knott
