I think a majority of the posters on here realize that, but it's fun to see the Iowa fans get their panties in a bunch when we tell them that the Big 10 isn't that good this year.

Looks like someone isn't too good with sarcasm. Everybody knows the Big 10 is better than the Big 12 by a lot, but it is funny to hear Hawk fans boast how tough the conference is and hear them get offended when you tell them otherwise.

Re: Hoks don't lack confidence
Alright, I'll admit I lost perspective here.
After years of futility, I'm desperate for any kind of success. And I can see Iowa running out of chances to impress the committee. They won't win on the road against Minnesota or Indiana, and Purdue is no cupcake. Wisconsin may not be a quality win by the end of the year, and I'm confident Illinois won't be. And to see them come so close to pulling out wins against top 15 teams, only to come up short, is beyond frustrating.
Apologies for getting a little short. I'm not used to having to actually handle success/expectations thereof when it comes to Iowa basketball.

The team likely to finish 5th in the Big Ten.

In football? That's correct.

I can't remember, did the best team of all time win at Ohio State a week and a half ago?

So, would Ohio State beat Kansas in Columbus?

One game doesn't determine anything either way. Michigan is easily the best team I've seen this season.
Kentucky lost twice last year. That didn't make Indiana the better team when all was said and done (didn't even win the B1G), and it sure as hell didn't get Vandy an SEC crown.

So you do agree Iowa State is still the better team than Iowa this year...

No, but I don't see any reason not to have Kansas talked about on the same level as Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Indiana.

Obviously, they didn't. But beating the team likely to finish 5th in the Big Ten hardly proves that Kansas would finish better than 5th. One game doesn't prove anything (although I do believe Kansas would win at least 6 out of 10 on a neutral floor, and more likely 7 or 8).

This sounds an awful lot like Cyclone fans during football season when Hawk fans say the Big 12 isn't that good. I'm pretty much convinced that Cyclone fans are gigantic hypocrites.
Re: Hoks don't lack confidence
Defending Kansas? No thanks. The only thing that matters is what your team does, SEC football mentality creeping into this thread. Arkansas fans think they won the national title because Alabama won... At this point Iowa State has a good chance to make its second tournament appearance in two years and I suspect Iowa fans will be bat crazy staying hme because they played In a tougher conference, won the head to head, etc, etc, etc. Those same fans need to remember that feeling when they are ridiculing Iowa state when Iowa makes better bowl even they lost on the field and played in the big ten.

Well it certainly doesn't prove that they wouldn't finish better than 5th, like boy genius was claiming up there.
