In Fred We Trust
Before conference season began, I was furious with the play of some...most of our players.
After our first game against Kansas, I was amped for our players and furious with our coaches.
Then came the Texas game. And we absolutely blew them out of the water. We saw the explosiveness of this team against WVA. This team clearly didn't put it's full effort into TCU, and, obviously, not against T. Tech either.
We, as posters, don't and will never understand what's going on in Clyburn's head when he shoots a three from the corner with three guys on him. Or what's going on in Lucious' head when he throws the ball 7 rows into the stands. Or what's going on in Booker or Gibsons head...ever.
But I promise you that every single player on this team is more disappointed in themselves for their effort tonight than we are of them.
I know this loss is bad, but we lost to UNI, Drake, Oklahoma State, and twice to Texas last year.
And I promise you these guys will be back and give K. State a run for their money. How do I know?
Following a loss to Texas last year, we beat #5 Kansas.
Following a loss to Okie State, we pound a pretty talented yet mediocre A&M team by 23.
Following a heartbreaker to Mizzou, we take out #10 Baylor.
Following a first-round exit from Texas in the Big XII tournament, we beat UCONN, the defending champs, in the NCAA tournament.
Following a loss to #6 Kansas this year, we hammer Texas.
After our play the final 10 minutes against WVA, TCU, and Tech, this was bound to happen.
But I promise you, our players and coaches will be ready for K State when they come to town. I'm not saying we're gonna win, but we're gonna play like the team we know we are. To lose, Kansas State will have to beat us. I promise you, after tonight, we will not beat ourselves the rest of the season.

Cubs, I was about to post something very similar in the positives thread, but I'm glad I didn't because you've done it 1000x more articulately than I could ever do. Well done, buddy.
CFH learns from losses and rarely makes the same mistake twice.

Re: In Fred We Trust
Optimistic, yes? Last years team had: Royce White, Scotty and Allen, all players who were leaders. Last year we played smart basketball, rebounded and hustled and looked like we gave a crap, this year? Not so much. Clyburn is selfish, and Percy is a ball hog. I don't really have to many complaints about Lucious, he hit 2 huge threes tonight down the stretch, he had an off game it happens but he's played great most of conference. I honestly can't wait for Clyburn to leave though, not been impressed with him at all, waste of a scholarship.

Fred walks on water according to the masses on here. We all understand.

Re: In Fred We Trust
Selfish players. We need more passing before we shoot.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Also, still beats watching McDoormat basketball. By the way that guy has a knack for losing to Drake.

Didn't you know he grew up in Ames, played at Ames High School, and played for Iowa State? He HAS to be a great coach then, didn't you know that? What more does a guy need on his resume? He's played basketball before and people love him. That's all it takes folks.

Re: In Fred We Trust
Good post. Reason to be upset but not to give up. Once we knock off ranked Purple Kansas convincingly on Saturday this team will be revered again on this site.

Re: In Fred We Trust
After tonight, I certainly am really questioning Coach Hoiberg's decision making... The jury is still out on Fred at this point in time. He has done some outstanding things to take this program out from the gutter during the Coach McDermott era, but tonight was unexcusable!!

The last 2 games were worse than watching McDermott basketball, by far. If you don't think that, then you don't know what you're talking about. I wasn't sure we were going to reach 40 pts tonight.

Can you be more specific about what Coach did wrong tonight, and how he should have done it differently?

Why are you such a negative poster? He proved last year he could coach and this year he will prove the same. Teams have bad nights, and this game is a chance for this team to show how resilient they are. You may be a happier person come Saturday afternoon.
