Re: 23 wins is the magic number?
21 wins before the conference tourney and were in. Even at 20 and a loss in the tourney we'd might make it.

Everyone should stop being pessimistic and instead focus the conversation to what seed we could get in the tourney. We have a very solid team with a couple real good opportunities left this season including the tournament. There hasn't been a team in the conference all year that has flat out dominated us or even close to that. We have either won or been right there with every team we have played. It's not unrealistic to consider winning out the rest of the regular season to be a possibility if Freddy pulls the guys together to show the same effort we showed at KU/against Oklahoma. Winning those couple games on the road including tomorrow won't be easy, but ISU despite the record is definitely not a bad road team.

I see Fl Gulf Coast (win over Miami is huge) and West Virginia are now Top 100 wins, but BYU and Baylor are no longer Top 50 wins...

Baylor will probably jump back in the Top 50 by the end of the reg season. It doesn't really hurt us IMO.

You are only as good as your record says you are. We have wins at UMKC and TCU.. Those don't even really count. This team has a chance tomorrow night to prove it can win on the road, but if it fails again tomorrow both you and Chris Williams need to quit stating "we are not a bad road team."

I personally am very nervous about this team. We have enough of a track record to see that we are not a good road team:
- We don't value the ball and turn it over way too many times
- Our on the ball defense is poor
- Our interior defense is worse
- We seem incapable of taking a charge
- We give up way too many offensive rebounds during critical times
- We lack toughness to get defensive stops during key times
In short, this team demonstrates few of the little things that could make this a very good team. We are a good shooting team, that is about it. And against OSU, even a great night of shooting did not help us. If we would have done just one or two of the little things above, we would have won at OSU easily.
Until they actually beat UT, WV, Baylor, or OU on the road (all decent teams), I am confused why anyone thinks this is a team that can compete for 1-3 place in the conference.

We still have something to prove on the road. Close does not count.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

I'm stating the arguments in terms of we should not look at the remaining road games as definite losses which seems to be a common opinion in this thread. As of now, I absolutely agree with you the proof is in the pudding and so far we don't have the record to support an argument. However I was trying to prove that the road games remaining should be looked at more optimistically. We have had a couple road blunders what team hasn't, but we took Kansas to overtime only because that kid hit the luckiest shot of his life at the buzzer, we really did beat OKst in my opinion but the refs gave them that win, and we have had to play 3 of the toughest 5 teams on the road already. Excluding Texas Tech, we have a lot bigger reason to be optimistic then assume we will automatically lose the games. My dad always taught me however the proof is in the pudding.

Probably also has something to do with the fact we're only 1 game out of 3rd and 1.5 games out of 1st. But yeah, that's not competitive and nobody ever recovers from that kind of deficit.
