If a team gets back in transition and gets out on ISU's shooters, the Cyclones struggle in my opinion. I think they are a pretty good defensive team but struggle offensively in the half court. Too much isolation and 1 on 1 that is too easy to guard.

I was repeating what Rutter said. He said that it is easy for teams to play flat in empty arenas. I can see that because we played flat the past two games. I don't think we were flat at Iowa. I don't think we played well (closer to terrible, I'd say) but I don't think we looked like we didn't care, no energy, going through motions.
The Tech game was just us playing flat out awful, WVU/TCU made good adjustments. Let's remember though, this is only Fred's 3rd season as a head coach. Bob Huggins and Trent Johnson are 2 of the better, more experienced coaches in our league, you're not going to trick them, you're going to have to make adjustments, Fred did enough of that to win both games.
Yep, they've figured us out. All they have to do is hope our 3's aren't falling and they'll have a chance to win.
While no Cato (there are very few shot blockers like that), Homan was a good shot blocker. He didn't always go for the block when simply solid defense was the better play so he didn't foul as much when going for the block and he blocked with his left hand like many good shot blockers do.
West Virginia didn't make the game close by slowing it down. They made a run when they pushed the play and went unconscious from 3. TCU and TT slowed it down because their talent levels are subpar. If we get out to a lead early against TT, the game is likely over at the half.
My favorite player on the team is McGee and I think he is our best player, but if we are honest he had a bad game and that really hurt us against TT. Everyone is kicking on KL and WC, but are three steadiest players ME, TM, and GM all played poorly too. It was just one of those games where none of the players were ready to play and it is time to move on to KSU. I hope we see a great effort on Saturday.
From an X and O standpoint, I was intrigued with Tech's game plan. They switched on literally every screen, making it very difficult for our offense to generate open looks.
Normally, when a team does this to you, you have your big man screen for a guard up top and then immediately post up down low because he now is being defended by a much shorter player. However, our bigs could not take advantage of the mismatches, and our offense became very ineffective.
I'd be very surprised if we don't see other teams use Tech's strategy against us.
I know in this thread I'm starting to sound like I am constantly whining about the officiating, but in this case the way the game was officiated really took ISU out of their game. There were several times where ISU had that mismatch and the smaller defender simply beat up the post player, both by bulling into them and by draping arms all over the offensive player. This was the MO often for blocking out. At one point an ISU post got called for a foul on a rebound because the player was blocking out so aggressively (should have been whistled) that when the ISU player moved laterally the Tech player slipped off the ISU post's hip and fell to the floor. Foul ISU. The officiating did not hand the game to Tech, but the way it was called certainly took ISU out of their game in many facets.
I dont know about outcoached, but it wouldnt have took a genius to tell Clyburn to just penetrate and and take the ball to the hoop the last 5 possesions against Tech. He was either gonna score or get fouled. We were just letting Lucious dribble the shot clock down to about 10 seconds, then we either got a horrible perimeter shot off or we turned the ball over. x ans o this and that. Sometimes people try and make basketball rocket science.
