We still finish in the top 3 of the conference
Last night sucked, we all know it, Hoiberg knows it, the players especially know it. Put it into perspective, that was a horrendous loss. However, we can still climb into 2nd or 3rd place this weekend. OU is @KU and theres little chance they win there, Baylor is @TCU (most likely win), and if we beat K-state were in 3rd, assuming OU loses at Kansas.
The next few weeks determine where we sit as the top teams (KU, K-state, OU, Baylor, us) all play each other pretty much, with a few games against bottom tier teams tied in.
Just win Saturday and last night doesn't mean a whole ton. We could still be 5-2 or 6-2 after the next few games. I know KL and Clyburn are more then ****** off and will want revenge, I feel bad for K-state coming into hilton this saturday.

I just don't feel we are going to be consistant enough to finish top 3. Hope I am wrong.

Re: We still finish in the top 3 of the conference
What we really need is a BIG win to get us going. We have yet to take out a ranked team this year and KSU is the perfect chance to come out ****** and pop them in the chin. If we don't take them out then top 3 is pretty much out of the question.

Re: We still finish in the top 3 of the conference
I still have a hard time believing that the team we saw last night was the same team that took Kansas all the way down to the wire. There's plenty of season to be played, but it's tough to get real optimistic when TCU was a sloppy enough game to where we all felt we would improve from there...
What is it about Tech this year that our boys display some of the worst effort and athleticism in recent memory?

I for one can't wait to see our guys poop KSU in the chin.

Re: We still finish in the top 3 of the conference
I have doubts about anyone saying "We'll still be in the top 4 in the conference". Almost beating KU isn't beating KU. In fact, when push came to shove, they took us to OT and then just beat the snot out of us. There is literally only 1 game left on the schedule you can now say "That's a W" and that is the TCU game at home. We already played 2 of the worst teams at home and played at least 1 of the home-and-home's with the bottom 4 teams and we are still only 3-2!
Could it happen? Yeah, but predicting it sounds like hog-wash and hope. I see it just as likely we end up in the 7-9 win category. I think KState is now the turning point. Win that one and we can believably say "Tech was a fluke", lose it and it is more likely we are a middle of the pack team and KU was the fluke...
Yep, this thread has just been pwned. -

At the same time I don't think that we can say the likes of OSU, OU, and Baylor aren't in the exact same position as we are. In essence its a 4 team battle for the 3rd and 4th spots in the conference standings.

Re: We still finish in the top 3 of the conference
ISU should be good at home where they should shoot better. Based on 3 point shooting stats I would expect teams to slow the pace and see if ISU has any inside game.
3 pt shooting
ku 14-38 .368
texas 11-26 .423
uwv 8-24 .333
TCU 5-18 .278
TTU 6-23 .261
conf 44-129 .353
I don't see 3rd in the conference with teams slowing down games. I think only KU will come in and try to run with the Cyclones. I see most games winnable at home and more struggles on the road. Free throw shooting down the stretch has been an issue.
NCAA Tourney - can't see big12 getting more than 4 so it is either OU or ISU, not both. KSU could fold too, OSU has enough talent to jump back in the race too. I don't see BU or KU dropping below 4.
