5. Iowa State. Wednesday's loss at Texas Tech was one of the worst by any Division I team this season. The Cyclones scored a season-low 51 points and shot 35.3 percent against one of the Big 12's worst teams. They were also outrebounded. With K-State coming to town Saturday, Fred Hoiberg's squad had better turn things around in a hurry.

Plain and simple, this is the best way to sum it up. Our "effort" on Wednesday was as poor as it's been in a few years. I don't know if we were looking ahead to Saturday and thought we'd go down there and roll T. Tech without showing up, but it was ugly.

Hoiberg better start utilizing his timeouts in the necessary situations. I can't even count how many times he should have used them in the Kansas, West Virginia, and Tech games. He has to stop runs or droughts and having 3 or 4 timeouts at the end of the game isn't the way to do it. I put it on the entire coaching staff, as the assistants (TJ) should be chirping in his ear if the other team goes on a run or we seem "out of sync". Bill Self does it repeatedly if he feels his team doesn't know what's going on or the other team goes on a run. I know Fred is learning learning, but it's time to grow up and call a timeout when the other team goes on a 9-0 run. We better be ready tomorrow or K-State will run us out of our own gym and the season will be in jeopardy. We have won 17 in a row at home. Buck up Clones and get a WIN!!!

Huggins did an excellent job against us of calling timeouts early in the second half to try to get his team out of a funk, and it eventually worked.

Couldn't disagree more with most of what you said. We had 11 turnovers and gave up 56 points, which isn't indicative of being lazy with the ball, poor defense, or lack of effort. We weren't hitting outside, pure and simple, and give some credit to TT for pushing us out farther from the 3 point line. Niang is our only inside threat, and he was in foul trouble a lot of the game. We need a lot more help from Gibson and Booker inside, and we're going to be too dependent on hitting 3's until we get it.

It looked like we were coming out the second half hot against tech then all of the sudden it seemed we got comfortable with a small lead and then got lazy again. Sometimes our team plays too much like an NBA team and gets too comfortable then lets the opponent get back into it

The biggest lack of effort was when going after offensive rebounds. Its not like Tech made big run and forced CFH to us a timeout. In close games it is nice to have a TO or 2 late. Bruce Webber used all his up with 4 mins left in the game vs Kansas, he needed one back at the the end of the game.
