Interesting that six people made most of the game contributions today.

Also I see is see the statement brought up by fans "they are not as good as they think." What phoque does that mean? Exactly how good do the players think they are? If they came out and said we suck, would you be happy?
I wish Clyburn and others could take a cue from that old Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes to the office of heckler to heckle them. Might be the cold slap that some people with unrealistic expectations need.
and yes the word phoque is pronounced how you think. Its a french word, means seal I believe, but since sensors will not allow the f word, makes a great replacement. This now belongs here: -

What I said about Lucious still stands. He's got talent, but he's not consistent. He'll always show flashes, just enough to keep people hooked on him.
I'm not saying he doesn't care; the majority of athletes do care, even when they play poorly. But he could just as easily turn around and play like crap in ISU's next game.

Lucious has been great for the last month w/ the exception of the tt game, where literally everybody sucked. Couldn't be happier w/ his play and I didn't think he had it in him.

The reality is, neither guy played remarkably worse than they have all year at Tech and neither of these guys played remarkably better against Kstate than they have all year. You could argue that the team played better or worse those games but thats not all on these guys. I'm not calling anyone out but as far as offense goes, Tyrus is our catalyst. He shot awful at Tech, yesterday he knocked down some shots and things got easier for everyone on offense. I'm not singling out Tyrus personally, he just happens to be our best shooter, the guy who stretches the floor and opens things up for everyone else (a la Scotty and at times Chris Allen last year). Last season when those guys weren't hitting our offense looked rough, but we had 2 guys who could get that attention. This year its seemed when Tyrus isn't hitting, we get very sluggish on offense and become very easy to guard.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

Disagree, he has been very good in Big12 play ( I believe he leads the league in assists and has a good assist/turnover ratio) and I think he can be a consistently good pg it just took some time for him and the rest of the team to gel.

Well put, some people just can't figure out that individuals and teams just aren't at their best in every game, and 14,000 fans screaming for you in familiar surroundings as opposed to 3,000 fans sitting on their hands on the road makes a big difference. But at TT Korie had 3 turnovers, 11 points, and one assist (nobody was hitting shots, including 3-13 outside the arc). Yesterday he has 3 turnovers, 10 points and 8 assists because we are hitting shots (11-22 from 3 in the friendly confines). But after TT some posters slam Korie for being lazy, loose with the ball, not caring, etc. Korie has been playing a solid point guard throughout the Big 12 schedule and has been our best clutch player in close games, hitting big shot after big shot. At TT the team had 11 turnovers and gave up a meager 56 points, and at home yesterday we had 10 turnovers and gave up 73 points, but some claim we were careless with the ball and played lazy defense at TT but played great yesterday. It's just flat out tougher to shoot well on the road for a variety of reasons. Creighton beats Drake at home by 40 and loses to them in DM two weeks later. We will very likely lose again on the road and not shoot well while doing it. I just hope some fans will quit confusing not shooting well with not trying or not caring.

I think it is completely okay to criticize a player's or team's energy level. But comments regarding a person's heart, or lack thereof, or saying that a player gave up......is usually completely baseless. It comes from people who typically aren't either (a) old enough or (b) well-adjusted enough to understand that there are more important things besides Iowa State basketball. I watch every game, live in Minnesota, still have season tickets, donate at the Gold level and go to the Big 12 tournament every year. It is safe to say that Iowa State Athletics is a major part of my life but it is because I make that choice.
These players don't owe me an apology if they don't play well or if they make a crucial turnover. Anyone expecting that has a distorted view of reality. Do any of us apologize to our co-workers when we have a lackluster day at work? The answer is No.
A word of advice. Watch the games, support the team, cheer hard and when the game is over enjoy your own life instead of vicariously trying to live through the lives of a bunch of 18-21 year olds.

I'm guessing the players saw his history and that is what they found laughable about someone that calls the themself a fan. Funny thing is that kid said he was saying what Fred wouldn't to fire them up.

MUCH improved effort today, and it showed. If we had played with today's effort at TT, we win by 20. That's what is discouraging. Ashamed for saying Fred shouldn't be coaching? Originally Posted by clonedude

Would playing for Fred light a fire under you when you need it on the road in the Big 12? It wouldn't for me. Maybe he's in the wrong profession?
Our guys played just like our coach coached tonight. Lackluster, no effort, no passion, no emotion, etc."

Re: CL and WC silence their dumb critics and beat 11th ranked KState
To criticize players and say they did not play well in a particular game is what fans do. Nobody on ISU's team played a good game at Texas Tech, and I would be willing to bet that most if not all of the players would tell you that if they were asked. Most of all, they failed to play as a team.
Criticizing them here on a message board is not quite as personal as sending a tweet to them on Twitter. If a person were just tweeting to his/her followers that is one thing (similar to a message board) but some of the tweets were sent directly to the players, and re-tweeted by them. That is not so cool.
KL recognized the way the team played, and held the team meeting before Saturday's game. Will also recognized the problem and made a few statements about teamwork and playing together. Both, especially Will, lead by example yesterday. Hopefully, they will keep doing that.
Fans will be fans. If anyone expects fans to say only good things about players and coaches, and never criticize them, then what purpose does a board like CF serve? How boring would it be if all the threads were only positive comments all the time?
The tweets directly to the players were out of line and went too far. But CF and Twitter are not the same thing. Twitter is much more personal.

Agree with some of what you say but some of the criticism after the TT game was waaay out of bounds. A team that has 11 turnovers and gives up 56 points isn't a team that is lazy on defense, loose with the ball, or doesn't care. They didn't play their best, but that happens, especially on the road, and it will happen again. I just hope some of the nasty comments about our players and team don't happen again when it does.
