Re: How does Niang compare to other top ISU freshmen?
Niang is one of those guys who will succeed no matter where he plays.

There is not a player I feel more comfortable with the ball in his hands on this team than Georges

Re: How does Niang compare to other top ISU freshmen?
I love his game as a freshman. I can't wait to see what he can accomplish in his time here. Could very well go down as one of the greatest 4-year players in ISU history. Heck, this kid seems to have the basketball IQ and work ethic to potentially become one of the greatest players in ISU history for any amount of years. We're lucky to have him.

Its hard to compair him to others because each great Fresh had different talent around them and were asked to do different things.

On a side note, sometimes when Georges spins and writhes his way to the hoop, reminds me of Kenny Pratt.
Georges is already decently tough; can't wait to see him when he is all grown up! Rancik is a good comparison too. I went with Julius because he was not very muscular either, which I think Niang needs to work on a bit, and I think he will. The thing about Julius was what you got as a freshman was what you got throughout his career. His scoring went up a bit, but that was it.
I think Niang has a lot more upside than that. The moves we see now are the same ones he was making in prep school. He is smart enough to develop a college game......and it is going to be fun to watch the next few years. I think if he develops his game a bit more, and adds a little strength and conditioning, he will have a shot at the NBA by the time he is done at ISU.

Re: How does Niang compare to other top ISU freshmen?
Grayer was the best freshman I ever saw play for ISU. The numbers may or may not show it (I haven't looked) but remember we had Hornacek and Stevens on that team as well so he wasn't called on to score a lot as a freshman, though he certainly had the ability. I've never seen another freshman who played with the poise and leadership as Jeff Grayer.

Not sure what part of the NBA game that Georges' doesn't translate to. He has moves inside, can shoot, and he can pass. His D needs to be worked on but that is not a NBA show stopper. The only thing I see Georges a little behind NBA players is conditioning. I would love it if Georges could play 40 minutes like Babb does.

Basketball has changed pretty radically since some of those guys played.
It's the old comparing across eras thing.
