Re: How does Niang compare to other top ISU freshmen?
Where is the SDW = McGrudder optimism coming from? Has anyone heard rumblings of how he's looking in practice?

All Georges needs is a pair of Jimmies Training shoes. Jimmy use to have the same problem with vertical leap. Strength Shoe featured on Seinfeld - YouTube -

I'm not sure about the McGruder comparison but there's a reason why SDW is redshirting and it's not because Fred thinks he's not going to be any good. Redshirting in basketball is a lot different than football. You don't redshirt players that you don't think won't make an impact for you down the line. There's a reason why Sledge didn't redshirt. Same could be said about Okoro and Long to a certain extent. Basically, SDW redshirting is a good thing for him and ISU.
I expect SDW to fill the McGee role next year. First guard off the bench that will provide scoring and energy.

Niang's game is definitely NBA worthy. It's his size that will hurt him. I think he's only 6'7, 6'8ish. If he were a little taller he would be perfect for the NBA after a few years of improving his already polished skills.

I'd put Wes Johnson in there somewhere... Originally Posted by helechopper Grayer

Aside from his numbers, he is what makes this team go offensively. For a freshman, his impact is impressive considering our offense does pretty terrible without him and very fluid with him.

Long was playing out of pure necessity if Korie got into foul trouble. If Bubu had been here all year, I bet Long would have redshirted with SDW.

Am I the only one around here who thinks Georges gets called for some B.S fouls? I don't think his defense is THAT far off.

Re: How does Niang compare to other top ISU freshmen?
I love the way that Niang and Clyburn move well without the ball, grab passes when open, get the ball to open guys, maintain excellent body control, and have a fantastic sense of how to get to the basket with the ball.
They make each other better when they are both on the court.

I'm guessing Stinson holds the record for scoring as a freshman with 16.2 ppg.
