I'd like to watch the game without all of it being about a commentator just trying to call attention to himself with his antics. That is exactly what he does. He has become a caricature of himself.

ISU has had some good teams but not great teams in the past. Won a couple of Big 12 titles thats cool but jeez guys tons of schools can talk about hoops confrence titles and such.

Enough of the butt hurt and get over it. The guy has a modest level of respect for ISU hoops and commented on it on the air. Just say thanks for the shout out and worry about beating okie light this week.

Correct, whether or not he ever does a game at Hilton is completely irrelevant. It doesn't bring more prestige or make the game any better. It won't mean more people will watch. It doesn't make us go up in the polls or anyone take more notice. If he did a game, everyone would be complaining afterwards anyway because he'd be slobbering over McLemore and Releford every time they made a shot.

True, Vitale isn't all that relevant himself, but he is part of a package that is relevant. If he wants to broadcast a game, it means that we have become very relevant and the big networks want to feature us. His presence is an indication that there are lots more fans around the country watching us rather than the typical ACC leaders.

I guess I'd be fine with him as a replacement for Doherty. Doherty is terrible AND nobody cares about him or even knows who he is. I understand now why his players basically revolted against him.

This, we are not exactly a storied program. A couple of great 8 appearance, but also one of the few teams in history to lose to a 15th seed.

He gives a positive comment about Hilton, and some play the lack of respect card.

Exactly how has Vitale ever disrespected ISU? Other than the on air, overblown exchange, between Johnny and Dick over 20 years ago? Really? Get over it..

If he showed up at ISU, I think with the exception of a few curmudgeon's on this site, I am guessing he would be welcome with open arms. The simple fact he shows up on your campus indicates that your team is relevant on a national stage.. I would take that in a second, because that does help recruiting greatly.

This. I hate Vitale and wish he'd just go away. BUT somehow he does have a lot of "power" in College BB and I don't see how you can argue with that

If Vitale is doing our game, that means we're relevant and playing in a big game. That's good news for Iowa State basketball. Sure he's annoying but I'd be able to stomach him for 40 minutes.

We've been relevant and hosting big games that he never bothered to pay an ounce of attention to in the past.
