Besides he gets like 5 less minutes than every other starter. What's the point?

Also when he comes in he becomes the immediate focus of our offense. As soon as he checks in everyone is looking for Tyrus. He shoots just as much as Ejim/KL/Babb

I think Hoiberg sweats over the game films much more than we do. There isn't a lazy bone in his body.

Why does there seem to be a campaign to get McGee more minutes/starts? He's not that good.

Offensively he's a starter. Defensively he's a walk-on. Effort is there but he's very poor fundamentally. He gets away with it somewhat because he closes fast and can jump out of the gym, but it gets him in trouble the same (don't foul the jump shooter!).

Doesn't matter if charge was BS. McGee drew help from the guy on Bubu and Bubu had a much higher percentage shot IMO. Maybe a bad call from the ref, but it wouldn't have happened if McGee would have made the right decision to begin with.

...wut? Doesn't matter if the call was BS? All contact was from the side on a moving defender. The definition of a charge. They call that like 99% of refs would, and he's at the line for a much better chance at 3 points than I'd give Bubu at this point. Also, what makes you think he'd shoot it? He didn't take a shot all afternoon. McGee absolutely made the right decision on that play, and it should have been our best FT shooter at the line for a 3 point play.

Not really related to whether he is a starter or not, but he isn't a 30+ minute player. He just burns too hot on offense for that. Even his 3-pointers come off of jump shots where he really elevates. Once he starts tiring, his shot is going to be off. Keeping him fresh so that he can be explosive is key to his success when he is in the game. I think 20 minutes in chunks is just about right.

I'd be curious how McGee feels about this. Seems like he fills the 6th man role quite well, and seems that the coaching staff is cool with this. I suppose he'd rather start, but who wouldn't . . .
