Royce White, Why February 11th?
Does anybody know why Royce White isn't going to the d-league until February 11th? I'm not trying to bash him I'm just curious. Maybe he needs to get in game shape or the paperwork on the protocol will take time to be drawn up. Maybe he just needs a week or two to get everything settled and planned out in order to not have anything disrupt his adjustment or cause anxiety. I'm looking forward to see how he does. Does anybody have any insight?

I think the team (vipers) is returning from a long set of road games on the 10th.

Because it's after a road trip for the team.

Does anybody have any insight? One thing that stands out to me... Rio Grand Valley plays the Iowa Energy in Des Moines on February 10th. He may be avoiding the DM Media as much as he can, because their focus would be on all the drama he has caused over the past year.

Re: Royce White, Why February 11th?
If you have a player with issues traveling, would you want his first games to be on the road, or at home?

Re: Royce White, Why February 11th?
Maybe get back in shape as well?(speculation)

Re: Royce White, Why February 11th?
Long road trip, get back in shape, and start off with a Rio Grande home game.
Easier transition for all.

Re: Royce White, Why February 11th?
Royce's obstacles involving road trips was probably a main reason but I bet another reason is $$$. If Royce's first games are at home, they might sell more tickets to people who are curious (and 1 or 2 who are furious, never underestimate that dumb people will spend money just to boo, ie; hawk fans in iowa gear @ jack trice for Big 12 games). It may only increase ticket sales by 50 but every dollar counts for these minor league teams. Plus the press in attendance will probably increase 10x from a normal home game. It might even draw a couple national press people.

Let's hope, most of all, that Royce has a great looking game that includes a high number of assists and that he can express himself well in all the interviews he will have.

Over/Under on how many games into his D-league assignment until Royce White goes MIA and demands new protocol?
"The houston rockets have not provided me with unlimited access to blah blah blah and now I want more and will sit and tweet until I get it"
I'll be shocked if he last more then like 20 games until he has some attack and quits again

I was someone who was very concerned about the Royce White experiment saying that I would be surprised if he ever played a game at ISU. Royce proved me and thousands of other doubters wrong. He is still going to have issues, I'm sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is a while before there is another big to do. I think he has some pretty admirable beliefs and is willing to stand by them. I also believe he may sometimes be his own worst enemy when he is trying to stand by them. I don't think that he is a baby just throwing a temper tantrum like you see out of a fair number of professional athletes.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

I would think he would sell a lot of tickets for a game in Des Moines!

Waiting for a home game to play. Probably part of the agreement not to travel..... .
