pretty good watch. Fred talks about the K-State game. Favorite possession of the year was the McGee three in the middle of the first half.

T.J goes in-depth into Iowa State's transition game and half court sets.

This should be watched by everyone because I'm tired of seeing people on this board complain that our offense is just chuck a 3. You watch that and you realize how orchestrated our offense is.

Wow that was awesome. Just sent it to my father (a bball coach). I feel like any basketball coach should give that a view. Interesting stuff.

Like the breakdown, and I could watch that possession from last Saturday 100 times without getting tired of it.

If you've played basketball before you'd appreciate how Fred runs his stuff. Playing against teams in high school with similar philosophies helps that as well.

Especially the part of Fred's offense where he emphasizes options. Usually teams only have an Option A and Option B. Plays where 2 guys stand around and do nothing, which makes it alot easier on defense.

Like people said, a must watch for X and O's guys, and for idiots who think all ISU does is chuck threes whenever they can.

The best thing about that is watching the defense. Notice how they all just end up in kind of a cluster in the lane. Finally, at the end...they don't know who each of them is supposed to be covering, and Tyrus gets the wide-open three!

If ISU would move the ball like that on every half-court possession, it would be nearly impossible to stop. Don't dribble.......just pass.

This was really great because I have never quite understood what they mean by 'spacing'. Obviously I know what it means in general, but not how it applies to the plays. So this helped me understand it.

I was telling someone how every time Hoiberg talks about his team, he talks about spacing. I bet he says the word 'spacing' more than anything else :)

And that play was pretty well defended for the most part. The reason we kept passing it is that Kansas State kept recovering. It was a really good basketball play on both sides of the ball until we finally won with the made basket.

Which against a lesser team than KSU can be very disheartening. You defend that well for that long doing everything right but eventually it is physically impossible to recover. It can be so frustrating for a team to do everything right on a possession defensively and still give up the big shot - an open 3, at that.

A little different than the thread we are participating in on the WBB forum, aye? I was watching the highlights before this video and even without the coach overviews the movement (ball and guys) was pretty sweet. At least for the KSU game it showed we had the right guys on the floor.

You are wrong. This is all a conspiracy to cover the fact that Fred does not run an offense, and just lets his players do whatever they want.

Re: T.J. and Fred talk about ISU's offensive philosophy

I think it's a great offensive strategy. It might need supplementing in late game situations, though, but what offense doesn't?

I also want to proclaim my love right now for the dribble-handoff, especially when Niang does it. I can't wait for him to gain a little athleticism and just start dominating with that.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Serious? I've taught this same thing to my third grade team. This is as fundamental as the underhand free throw. Come on guys, it's all ball-bearings...
