    Re: Where are the Fans??

It's pretty sad - the attendance at GIA. The top four venues in the Big 12 (should be): Phog, Hilton, Octagon, and GIA. GIA has not looked good since Eddie Sutton...

    Re: Where are the Fans??

Okie State, Baylor and Texas all recruit ridiculously and yet they get ~ 5000 fans per game. There's no reason these recruits should remotely be considering these schools. We had 11,000+ at conference games DURING THE ******* MCDERMOTT ERA.

Sorry, I'm really taking this loss hard. LOL.

    Re: Where are the Fans??

They have a really talented and fun team to watch but yes it is too bad their fans seem to really care less. Heck I think we had more people at our weekday games during the McDermott era than OSU (or any of the southern Big 12 teams)
“I told you, I don’t care if you’re black or white. I don’t care if you’re rich or poor. I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads

    Re: Where are the Fans??

College basketball doesn't draw anymore (as a general rule).
In the Big 12, there are only 3 programs left that really do: Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

Nationwide, I doubt that it's more than 40-50 that draw well anymore.

    Re: Where are the Fans??

I was going to ask this in the game thread, but I didn't read it all so was worried it may have been posted, but seriously who the **** would want to go play there and call this their home crowd. I was embarrassed as a big 12 fan.

I don't think we'll ever win in GIA as long as Eddie Sutton is alive.

    Re: Where are the Fans??

OSU fans hate Travis Ford and probably won't show up until they get a coach they like.

Doesn't matter. We've been better than Okie State a few times, and still lost to them down there.

    Re: Where are the Fans??

Their fans cannot stand Travis Ford. Immediately after they won, I overheard several people complaining about him on the way out of GIA. He gets highly recruited kids, plays a decently exciting brand of basketball, and has one of the more athletic teams in the conference, but thier pseudo-fans refuse to support the program out of what seems almost like spite, because for God's sake, Travis Ford is not named Eddie Sutton.

That place was dead at times tonight, and their is no reason for that. The Tulsa metro is within 2 hours of Stillwater, and OKC is even closer. Chances are pretty good that a very sizable percentage of alumni are located very close to campus. No excuse...

It's hard to believe people would just ditch the team they've followed for years just because an NBA team came to town.

Don't blame Okie State fans for not liking Travis Ford. His teams have been underachieving IMO.
