Oh, come on, Shop. Nobody is so invested in their fandom that they become irrationally violent and destructive.

John was REALLY close, in my opinion, to personally heckling the ref. I would hope a Div 1 BCS-conference broadcaster would be able to rise above, and be able to keep his anger/disbelief in his voice and words to a minimum in the broadcast.
If you think John was bad last night...you should listen to Gary Dolphin. I've never EVER heard an announcer cry so much.

I thought Walters was restrained, given what I was seeing on my TV screen.

But then, he's no Jim "Kiss Your Radios" Zabel.

If KU or Duke had our jerseys people might think we can close out games. Do we kidnap their payers come nightfall or what? How do we sneak McLemore out of Lawrence without anyone noticing?
I agree with your KU comment...The One and Only team in the big 12 that would get that 5 second call last nite, was of course, you got it KANSAS............and only KANSAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: John Walters yelling at ref over radio

While I like John, I think he goes a bit too far. Surely we commit a foul (or penalty in football) at some point in the game. However, if you listen to John, EVERY single call is against us. Wears a little thin, after a while.

Dolph is annoying for his Hawkeye arrogance. For example, the struggle against Purdue was the tough defense of the Boilermakers. Hansen had to finally say something to the effect that they were getting open looks and missing. He is the absolute worst homer in sports.

No matter what sports team you follow, even the dynasty teams all lose games and have losing seasons and/or big "upsets". Interesting use of words - as in I'm upset? For the Cyclones, losing is a long held tradition in all sports. So a really good excuse team for anger issues.

Deal with what is really making you angry if you can and don't use a sporting event as an excuse for hurting yourself, others or animals.
Whatever, because the 15 people or so on here last night that said they were going to commit arson on GIA were totally going to follow through with it...

I wouldn't do that, anyway, because while my dog is a complete idiot I would never hurt him intentionally in any way. He would probably be the thing that keeps me from going bat-$%^& crazy. I would totally throw a remote at the wall, because those are both inanimate objects, and nobody cares about those.

If you read a lot of the game threads, that's just John knowing his audience.

I completely disagree with you. I listen to every ISU game on the radio, basketball or football, and John does a great job of telling it like it is. He often points out when calls go our way or when the crowd is unhappy with a call. The only difference is that he gets emotional about atrocious calls against us and doesn't for the others because he's an ISU supporter.

I agree with you. I think JW is a pretty fair announcer - obviously, he cares about the Clones and that colors things a little, but that's why you listen to the CRN instead of the national broadcast. I've heard several instances where he thinks we got away with something, and really only have heard him come unglued for a few things.

I do like our broadcasting team though.
I heard that as well. Was watching on espn3. I realize the clones aren't much of an inside team but when you attempt twice as many free throws as your opponent, why should their fans be telling the refs to quit?
