I think we'll be high on his list, but damn there are some good programs we're dealing with. What we have going for us isn't too awful though.

    -Can play up tempo
    -Will play immediately
    -not too far from home
    -great home crowd/student section

Would be a major coup for Fred to get Vaughn. I'll keep dreaming, but won't be too disappointed if he doesn't since the competition is so tough.

I would definitely say Fred's style and the freedom he gives players aligns well with Vaughn's preferences.

Truthfully, I was doubtful that Rashad Vaughn was seriously considering Iowa State as being a serious option for his college choice. Currently, I am a believer he will sign with us.

In all honesty, I think it would be the best decision for him to sign with ISU. Young team coming in and perfect system to show his skills.

John Calipari usually gets who he wants. He may now be their #1 target at the wing spot for 2014. Also there is enormous pressure from locals for him to stay home

Hope he chooses ISU, butI am not going to get my hopes up. What an offer list.

    Re: RECRUITING: Rashad Vaughn Q&A

Really hard to get anything out of that interview on whether or not he likes us that much or not?

Trying to think of reasons why he would come to Ames over those other schools, and about the only ones that come to mind are location and Fred Hoiberg. Outside of Minny, we are his best option if he wants to stay close to home. But if you compare Minny and us, we are very much the same when you look at fan passion. Minnesota's fans and game environment are just as good as ours or better IMO.

And if you look at head coaches, that's also probably a push, but I give a slight advantage to Fred over Tubby due to Fred being younger, more exciting style of offense, and his NBA connections. But Tubby is no slouch at all. He is a BIG time head coach as well.

If location doesn't matter at all to him, we're probably screwed. Kentucky or Louisville would have us beat big time if location doesn't matter.

Yeah aside from the barn being a complete dump and them not having a practice facility they are about the same environment.

ISU is a major contender for his services due to his return visits, why make return visits if ISU wasnt?

    Re: RECRUITING: Rashad Vaughn Q&A

Big advantage we have is that Fred will really let him play how he wants to play, and he could be the star here. That's harder to do at places like Kansas or Kentucky. Plus we have way way better fan support than MN, and this is coming from someone who grew up in the Twin Cities. Most teams that aren't storied programs wouldn't have a full house rocking for an unranked Baylor team.

The barn is a pretty awesome place to play. I've been to several games up there. Minnesota fans LOVE basketball. More of their fans would rather go to a basketball game than a football game. It's a pretty good environment to play in.

    But so is Hilton.
