Well he will definitely keep us stocked with good guards. Recruiting bigs to this style might be a little more difficult, but he should be able to find some post players like Niang and Royce that are good facilitators. And some outside in forwards like Brackins.

I doubt we'll land many back-to-the-basket post players, but I'm not sure Fred is really targeting them either.

    This x1000.

I don't buy for one second that if Fred wanted a big man to come to ISU he couldn't find one - I just think that he is building a new brand of basketball in Ames - one that creates defensive and game-planning headaches for opposing teams. You saw what happened to teams that try to play big on us - we run them off the court, and then end up sitting their bigs...hence, their advantage is gone.

When we can run the floor, cut to the basket, distribute the ball and have 4-5 guys on the floor that can drop a 3 at any time we are nearly unbeatable. Sure, we lose some in rebounding and shot blocking, but who cares when you get a steal on one end and take it down for a quick 3? That's how 25 point leads are built (OU game last night perfect example).

i'm sure bluford shoots it better than hogue, however.

I'm not saying he is Tyrus but Bluford is shooting 38% from 3 which is a lot better than 30%. Maybe that had dropped recently but 38% is mote than respectable in my opinion.

    Just wanted to emphasize this.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."
