KU just had their "TTech", and showed that really no one in the conference is incapable of having an off day. We have literally been in every conference game until the end. If we can muster up the juice and the defense to win at KSU, anything can happen. Remember, the JHawks still have to come to our house for some payback!!!
It's fun to dream about but I can't see Kansas not finishing on top. I hope some of you are right.
The KU vs TCU game was a fluke. We can't judge KU based on that game, just like you can't judge ISU after the tech game. Nothing was falling. They're still a very good team, and will probably win the Big XII unless KSU, ISU, or OSU can win out or max 1 loss.
I'm surprised that OSU isn't getting a bit more love. They have a lot of talent and Marcus Smart is a guy that can create a shot for himself or a teammate when it matters. Their second half second schedule sets up pretty favorably as well. This thing is wide open and it is going to come down to which team can finish close games down the stretch.
They had a 3 hour team meeting Sunday. They now have 2 losses in a row including the first one at home. Self had said earlier in the year that he thought this team needed a loss to get focused and realize that they needed to play every game. I think he knows that the team is not dealing with adversity well and it certainly showed last night.
As far as people saying their shots weren't falling - Self even said it was TCU's defense that did that. MANY of those shots were air-balls or just flat out off-balance crap. To me, the team totally looked like they didn't know which way was up. I really think (hope I'm right) that their confidence is shaken and they drop a couple more and finish third. Still would have been nice to beat a top 10 ranked team at home on the 25th, but I'll trade that for 1st place any day of the week ;-)
It's still going to be KU at the top.
I think that was a bad loss for the league last night, mainly because Big 12 projected 4 or 5 teams in dance. I don't feel sorry for them at all though, obviously they were looking ahead to their next game at OU. I don't think they will lose another game till they come to Ames,(first losing streak in 7 years?) which would keep them on top of the conference, but probably not a #1 seed. ROCK CHALK CHOKE!!
It's been 260-some games since KU lost two in a row.
Those TCU kids were rebounding their azzes off and KU helped by looking Iowa-like from three.
Kansas will win out. I hope I'm wrong and hope we can beat them at home, but Kansas will turn it around. Even if we win out and Kansas only loses to us, they still are the one seed.
I drink a lot if kool aid myself, but would not be surprised to see us finish 2nd-4th in conference.
The great thing about that game is it gives every other Big XII coach a blue print for not necessarily beating KU but some different things you can do on defense that bother KU.
