Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
Ask me next Tuesday.
I'd guess Kansas will right the ship quickly, but that's two poorly played games in a row, and they are @OU on Sat then home against KSU Monday. They could easily lose both of those games.
Add those in with us @KSU and OSU @Tex, I think the picture could become a lot clearer on Tuesday. Or it could be just as muddy.
I think OSU has a real shot at the conference, or I would think that if I thought Ford was any good at coaching. They have started to gel, and have all the pieces to be a conference champ, including a stud who can take over a game in Smart.

I drink a lot if kool aid myself, but would not be surprised to see us finish 2nd-4th in conference. Not if TCU were to finish above Tech!
I would be surprised if any team in the Big 12 wins out. I think Kansas will still win this thing, but I highly doubt they win out.

Here are my predictions mid-way through this using mred's Big 12 Tournament Bracket Generator... 1. Kansas (15 - 3) 2. Iowa State (13 - 5) 3. Oklahoma State (12 - 6) 4. Kansas State (12 - 6) 5. Baylor (11 - 7) 6. Oklahoma (10 - 8) 7. West Virginia (7 - 11) 8. Texas (6 - 12) 9. Texas Tech (3 - 15) 10. TCU (1 - 17) I'd take this, hope isu wins the conference but i think Ku will pull it off.

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
Kansas remains in the driver's seat, and got my poll vote.
KU is still in first, with a tiebreaker advantage over K-State, which it already beat on the road, is one game ahead of OSU and has a 1-game advantage on Iowa State with a head-to-head boost.
If anything, a home loss to Oklahoma State and a horrendous loss @TCU shows that Kansas isn't infallible, and it put several other teams within range of stealing the title, when that wasn't the case two weeks ago.
Unless KU falls a full game behind someone else, Jayhawks still have an inside track.

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
I suppose it will be Kansas but maybe ISU or OSU.
OSU must borrow Colfax-Mingo refs at their place, Baylor couldn't get a call there down the stretch either.

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
If ISU can pull off Saturday night, I think they can win or tie for 1st place in the league. This team is coming together just like last year minus having to rely on 1 player (although RW was pretty good). There are 6 guys can that lead this team any particluar evening, that balance will help them win some of these tough games on the road and protect home court.

And what will you say if KU loses Saturday at a very dangerous OU who played them very well in Lawrence.. Dropping 3 in a row.The fact is that KU has starters that contend with any team out there but the have a very very young bench that makes them vulnerable at times. To say the race for the XII title is naïve in the very unpredictable XII conference season..

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
I think finally this is the year Kansas fails to win the conference title. They have trouble scoring and are averaging just over 60 points per game in conference play and as we saw last night.... their struggles are getting worse.

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
I would agree with many who say they are not as good as in years past, I just don't see us or OSU going on a run that would be needed to catch them.

Re: Wooee coach...things just got a whole lot more interesting
Bill Self has routinely said that the hardest part of winning these consecutive Big 12 titles is making sure his current players don't think/feel that because they play for Kansas a Big 12 title will fall in their lap. Maybe this year's team is the team that doesn't fully appreciate that message.
There was a great locker room speech from last year where he said it wasn't 8 titles. It was 3 for Robinson, it was 1 for his freshman, it was 2 for the sophomores, etc.

If we could start three guys, we’d do that. They make us run five out there. I don’t know who deserves to start.”
A quote from Self. Wow. Shots fired at his team.
