This is just not a good road team at all, which is disappointing. They have won 3 times away from Hilton this year, and technically 2 of those were neutral sites against weak opponents. That is mental. It is disappointing in that the team and staff have not yet figured out how to overcome it.
Poor rebounding, poor blocking out, and that has been true since the Big 12 started. It should have improved by now, especially with a team that was so good at it in the non-conference. Plus, once again, Will disappears in a big game. Completely a non-factor again. Where was Booker tonight? Percy for 2 minutes? What the hell? That will help their confidence, I'm sure.
Last year's team won 4 Big 12 games on the road. I don't see this team matching that. A 1-6 true road record so far is not going to impress any committees.
Need to bring your "A" game to win at Kansas State, and we brought our "B-" minus game, IMO.
I lost track of how many defensive rebounds squirted out of our hands only to be turned into offensive rebounds by Kansas State. That plus the turnovers lost the game for us.
its just almost an imposible task to go on the road, with that particular group of refs and beat a good team...its one of many weak groups of officlas that do big 12 games that are intimidated by the home crowd and overall it is just a weak group
just gotta clean up turnovers and clean up the rebounding...if they beat texas 1-1 on this trip is a good outcome.
This loss does not change our NCAA status at all, though. ISU just can't have bad shooting nights along with these bad TO nights when they play lower-level teams.
I'm not surprised with this game. So far this year, we've taken some teams out of what they do by playing small. They try to match us and can't keep up in a shootout with us in Hilton. The rest of the way, look for teams to play big and attack us in the paint.
Especially on the road, where we may not hit 13 3's, we're going to struggle with that.
10-8 in conference isn't going to get it done. Game @ Texas is big moving forward. A win there and we are fine. A loss there and we are in some trouble.
It will be interesting to see how many conference teams get in this year. Not the strongest group of teams overall.
We would have lost that even if the refs were on our side.
