Re: why can we not win on the road?
Is this where we are now? Why is it hard to win on the road? Because it is hard to win on the freaking road - for every team in every sport. It's called the "home field advantage".
Look, every year before the season starts, I pencil in every home game as a W and every road game as a L. Then I look for the really good teams (e.g. KU) and the really bad teams (eg TCU). I make the home games against the good teams into toss-ups and the road games against the bad teams as toss-ups. My theory is that you have no chance on the road unless the other team is terrible to start with. And that you are only at risk at home against a really great team. This is not rocket science and I would guess others do the same.
This year, I had 8 or 9 wins at home (depending on KU), and only a chance of 2 on the road (TCU & Tech). Figured we would be 10-8. Still seems about right. Wish we were better, a dominant team that could expect to win a lot on the road, but that's not what we have this year.
