Real bad luck on the road
I figured I would make this to break the cycle of meltdown threads. One thing is true, regardless of how we play, we just can't get the Ws on the road. It seems every team we play with exception of TTech goes on a tear at the end of the game and does things they never usually do. KU had a player make every shot he threw up regardless of the situation. Crazy foul trouble and BS calls cost us a game with OSU. KSU, we got beat up, had foul trouble and a couple players just couldn't get it done. And now this game, just cursed on the road. Maybe it's in their heads but being equally frustrated as many of you. Crying in a new thread about NIT bound when we have 8 games left and a tourney solves nothing and is way too premature.
Overall, bad luck Kobongo returned and bad luck in the crunch before overtime. Crazy year.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
Its not like this team is getting blown out. A lot of basketball left to play. The problem is that they really aren't very good outside of the home court. This will be a short season if that doesn't change.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
We need to make our own luck and learn how to play defense and rebound when it matters. We're terrible.

I love it when a guy is 0-3 for the game and then hits two big threes in a row. ****.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
Hard to rebound better then other teams when you depend on a 6'6" guy to carry you. Face it, not having a force inside like Royce is killing this team. Even if they don't score alot, it puts tons of pressure on Ejim, Niang and Clyburn to carry the load on the boards. Sometimes even Babb.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
I thought we had some pretty good luck in 2 OT. No Kabongo, no Holmes. Got an obvious out of bounds call go go our way... Hard to blame it on luck.

It's not bad luck if it happens more than twice.
It's a way of life.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
While some of Fred's coaching decisions are questionable, this is absolutely true. The likelihood of getting beat on the types of shot McClemore, Smart and whoever-the-hell-that-guy-tonight-was are slim. While I can see losing one or two of these games, losing all three is just unfortunate.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
When the other team has 19 turnovers, to our 5 and the other team has taken 60 2pt attempts to our 78....and we still lose by 3, no luck there. That just screams terrible shooting choices.

It's a way of life. My thoughts exactly. It's not bad luck when it keeps happening time and time again. It then becomes a problem.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
I don't think it was luck. LE or Floyd wins that game tonight, and probably wins at least one of the OSU/KU games. The reason is that those guys valued defense. You need to get stops on the road.
I cringe every time we don't score down the stretch, because I just KNOW that the other team is going to score a layup or dunk.
We run a spread offense and play soft D. That won't get it done on the road. It's a like a spread offensive team in football that can't play D or run the ball. They will probably outscore you at home, but they won't win on the road very often.

I would say the team is playing up to its roster makeup. How good can you really be with almost no inside game ( offense or defense)? We can only win by having better offense. Most teams including texas have better, bigger athletes. ISU has better shooters.

Re: Real bad luck on the road
Also, we played Texas the LAST 5 minutes without their best two players. That's not luck. It's just an average team.
