How many teams did Johnny have that finished the conference season with a winning record? Did those teams make the NCAAs?

If I remember correctly, I believe Johnny had a team make the NCAA event with a 6-10 conference record.

Personally... I get the feeling that Iowa State goes down to Waco and beats Baylor. When playing against Baylor you can typically count on 2 things... playing a team loaded with talent that lives to underachieve and playing a team that is so poorly coached they can't get out of their own way. While beating Baylor isn't going to be a monumental achievement by any stretch of the imagination I think ISU uses the win as a confidence builder and they finish stronger then most expect down the stretch. I think ISU ends up going 5-1 down the stretch with a loss at Oklahoma.

The problem: only one win ever in Waco, and that was the best ISU team ever that also happened to be wrapping up a conference title on the same night. I can't even remember the last time ISU played well down there?

It was 5-9 regular season, although you may be counting a win in KC. Regardless, that team struggled a lot on the road (and even some days/nights at home).

Minnesota is 4th seed and Illinois is 7th seed. Minnesota and Illinois are 6-7 in Big10. Wow, I really don't agree with anything he says.

And this really says all that needs to be said about Jerry Palm. The guy is a total shill for the Big Ten (he had Northwestern projected to make the tournament for much of the season last year, and they ended up going to the NIT), but even within the context of being a Big Ten shill he is remarkably inconsistent. For me, it makes it hard to take him seriously.

I think the team that laid that turd in Austin does not deserve a spot. Actually, I'd think that we all know how the season will end...lose to Baylor, OU, WV on the road. Beat TT, KU, OSU at home. Lose in the first game in KC despite having a ton of fans there. I'd actually be shocked at any other outcome. This team is just too weak mentally and defensively to win anywhere other than Hilton. Reminds me so much of Johnny's teams its crazy. Anyway, I don't think 10-8 in conference gets us in nor would we deserve it. And if it does, we're looking at the play-in game.

I would be even more shocked if it did end up like this.

To say it takes a very good team to win at Baylor may be a bit of an over exaggeration. One good team has lost at Baylor since then, and that was last year to a pretty darn good Baylor team.

This isn't the same Baylor team from years past. They are pretty soft in the post with the graduation of their head thug in the paint Quincy Acy. He was an absolutely filthy player in the post roughing up players, shoving guys out of the way for rebounds, hacking anybody trying to drive to the basket, etc.... When he left, Baylor's toughness in the paint left with him. No doubt they have some talented young guys in the post but they aren't street fighters like Acy was. The paint is now open for business when playing Baylor and that has had a direct impact on Baylor's record this year.
