Who would you want Iowa State to play in Big 12 Tourney?

Which team in the first round of the B12 Tourney would you want Iowa State to play against?

I suppose there are a couple ways to look at this. The team you want to play, and the team you want to play because you think ISU has the best chance to beat them.

I didn't put WVU or Texas because I assume ISU would have to collapse big time to be in a 7v10 game.

Agree. Plus they no longer have Buddy Hield. The only other choice would be Baylor. I still don't like that match up because, even though we swept them, they have great players and you never know when they'll have an awesome game.

I ran the conference predictor this morning and have us at 3rd place facing a 6th place Baylor. It's tough beating a team three times in a row... I was a bit of a homer and had us only losing one more game though.

There is still a decent chance ISU could get 2nd, so you could add WV and Texas to this as well. That being said, I see the final standings being something like this...

1. Kansas (14 - 4) Defeated Kansas State based on head-to-head record.
2. Kansas State (14 - 4) Lost to Kansas based on head-to-head record.
3. Oklahoma State (13 - 5)
4. Iowa State (12 - 6) Defeated Oklahoma based on record against #1 teams.
5. Oklahoma (12 - 6) Lost to Iowa State based on record against #1 teams.
6. Baylor (8 - 10)
7. Texas (7 - 11)
8. West Virginia (6 - 12)
9. Texas Tech (3 - 15)
10. TCU (1 - 17)

I was going to do a write-in vote for WVa or Texas because it could mean Iowa State has the top seed and plays the 8 seed.

I don't usually buy into the 3-times idea, unless first two were extremely close games. I almost prefer playing someone my team has already swept — and in this case, I don't think Baylor can beat ISU this year. (I know, "Texas has no chance" .... )

Also, if it was (3) ISU (6) Baylor, that means Cyclones are probably an at-large lock going into it anyway.

I think the tourney may end up being one of the greatest for the conference. Anybody can beat anyone else any given day, so a #3, #4, and #5 seed can end up being the tourney champ!! I like the Clones chances, meaning they play well the rest of the year.

Given who has what left, I think 2nd is a very long shot. It's certainly still possible, but it would mean us running the table, plus Kansas or KSU losing @Baylor.

That said, I think your projected final standings look about right to me, if we can pull off 4-1 in our last 5.
