Re: Big 12 basketball attendance by teams
OU and Texas should be the most embarrassed. Just a sign of how the big programs have fair weather fans. How can you justify getting 80-100,000 people to buy tickets for football games but you can't fill up an arena 1/10 the size for bball games. Nebraska is another good example of this, what make that worse is Creighton gets 10k+ huskers fans at every home game, so they are bball fans, just not of the school they claim is the heart and soul of the state.

So was the BU/ISU game, I would be surprised if there were 1000 people there.

Actual fans in the building I'm positive WVU would jump Texas, OU and maybe OSU. They're either too honest with their numbers or they have a smaller arena than I thought.
Re: Big 12 basketball attendance by teams
Comparing the tickets to the arena capacity would show that Texas is close to 60% as it holds 16734... Lamehorns....

I agree but I wouldn't put them as bball fans just fans of a winner.

I wonder what A10, Big East, MVC and MWC #s look like. I'm sure you're right that the western and southern schools blow in attendance.
Re: Big 12 basketball attendance by teams
I had seen a article in the Statesmen that ISU also leads the Big 12 in road attendance. I can't find it now.

No kidding, the population of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area is greater than that of the entire state of Iowa. Although across the board you still have to give them credit for fans in the stands as opposed to about half of the Big 12 schools.

- Texas (11,037)

- Oklahoma State (9,383)

Fixed those misplaced decimals included in the original article listing. :spinny:

I ran some numbers and based on enrollment and metro population MN has horrible attendance. I know we have to factor in pro teams and records of teams but on the surface in a city with as many alumni as UMN has they should be selling out each game. The population of ISU within a 45 minutes drive is approx 800,000. The same in the twin cities is 3.3 million.

Yeah, even with the pro team, MSP is big enough it should be able to draw support.
OU has a better excuse, not great, but better. Oklahoma City thunder is selling out 18k a game there.
Re: Big 12 basketball attendance by teams
that makes me more mad that we lost to tech on the road and they had no fan support whatsoever to "sway" he officials or energize their team
