Great story about Fred. Hope Vaughn reads it and says that is for me.
Go Cyclones.

Re: The Mayor
That Doug McDermott was quite the coach, but I don't know why he wouldn't commit to himself.
Really good article. Just a funny typo.

Re: The Mayor
Pretty bad *** article right there!

Re: The Mayor
Good find. Thanks for sharing. I'm always impressed by how much Fred is still loved up here in the TC.

Re: The Mayor
Great article, and Clone Cones!

Re: The Mayor
Great article. It can't such to have the 3 Amigos in Minnesota that we are going after read this either.
Only thing I don't remember happening is ISU going to Minnesota to play the Gophers???????? I think the last time we played there was with Thigpen and Bayless running the "wink" play at the end of the game to win after they hit the scoreboard with an in bounds pass
I'm not going to lie, I was unimpressed when Fred was announced. I thought it was a major reach and a mistake by Pollard. It didn't take long for me to eat crow and now I think it was the best move he ever made.

But yeah, there was a Gopher-Cyclone tilt in Minneapolis during the timeframe referenced. Iowa State Cyclones vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers - Recap - November 21, 2006 - ESPN -
Re: The Mayor
Great article written by a reporter that actually took the time to research their subject. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, R1975P.

• Former Timberwolves player and executive Fred Hoiberg continues to do good things with his Iowa State men's basketball team. Hoiberg's squad is 18-8 overall and 8-5 in Big 12 Conference play and has a good chance to make the NCAA tournament for a second consecutive season, despite the departure of Royce White last year. They are the fifth-highest-scoring team in the nation, averaging 79.3 points per game. Hoiberg also has been heavily recruiting Cooper's Rashad Vaughn and De La Salle's Reid Travis for the class of 2014. Hartman: Baseball, Vikings reach stadium dimensions compromise | StarTribune.com -
Re: The Mayor
Awesome article and well researched! I never get tired reading about the "Earthquake" game - Monday night vs KU will be the "After-Quake" game.

Re: The Mayor
Great article. I, too, am surprised at how fondly Hoiberg is remembered up in Minnesota. They sure do love him up there.
The one thing that I've took away this year that the article mentioned, that I didn't notice as much last year, is how much he hates to lose. The poor guy looked like you killed his dog after the Kansas game. And same thing against Oklahoma State and Texas.

Re: The Mayor
Lots of pretty pedestrian pieces to be found on the internet and it's really nice to start my Saturday by reading something that had some time and effort put into it. Of course, I have heard most of this before but not put all together into one article like this.
