Young raising his hand is not a great play-so sick of hearing this
This isn't 1988, you aren't required to raise your hand when you commit a foul.It was an epic failure on the part of the refs, nothing more, nothing less. Stop giving credit where no credit is due.

Isn't raising your hand now actually a technical at some level, maybe high school?

Not only that, but it also demonstrates a complete lack of sportsmanship (much like the dunk at the end and Self intentionally being T'd up in the first half). But then again, this is KU basketball we are dealing with. These are not good people.

Are there people actually giving him credit?

Actually, it is only further evidence Big XII officials suck Santa's - whatever
That crew was an outright embarrassment to basketball.

It was pretty smart on his part and obviously worked as intended, but the refs should never be fooled or swayed by something like that.

Next time we have Niang to beat the crap out of some opponent, and then Austin McBeth to raise his hand

In high school basketball, faking being fouled is an unsporting act that is subject to a technical foul. Faking being the fouler should be as well, at all levels!

They wanted to stop clock, Withey intentionally fouled as he was closer to ball handler and they wanted to stop the clock quickly, then they gave Kansas another hand and called it on Young. Refs knew who the foul was on but knew KU still needed Withey.
