What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
I believe that Big XII has to make a decisive and penal ruling regarding these officials. If they fail to do so, I fear that tensions are going to escalate with negative consequences in the future.
The nation and the Big XII fan bases were paying attention to this game, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. This game was on a national stage and only it reinforced the perception that officials are not calling games objectively when it relates to KU.
If the league fails to make an example out of these officials it will only serve to validate that perception.
I fear that the fans and players in this league are become increasingly frustrated and that anxiety is going to boil over with negative consequences.
Time to show some leadership commish.

Nothing will happen to the refs.

They won't and nothing will change.

If you're expecting something to happen I would start preparing for disappointment.

Who cares at this point? We aren't getting a W in the column so it doesn't matter

Take a breath for goodness sakes.
“Science investigates; religion interprets. Science gives man knowledge, which is power; religion gives man wisdom, which is control. Science deals mainly with facts; religion deals mainly with values. The two are not rivals. They are complementary.”

Time to show some leadership commish. Nothing is going to happen and if anything "escalates" the offenders (ISU) will be punished.

Re: What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
Yeah, it's one of those things that will be a blip on the annual updates to officials "Be sure to call the game fairly..."
I read that the officials are independent contractors, so the Big 12 could not invite them as part of the league games, but they'll still get work in other conferences.
None of this will get us a W, but I suppose it helps us feel like less homers and have some validation for bad reffing.

Re: What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
Just a rules question...the NBA has a provision where a game can be replayed from the point of a bad call if it is deemed that the error clearly affected the outcome of the game. It's happened twice since I've been following the NBA (1982 and 2008). Does the NCAA have such a provision?

Blarge Shaw is not gonna do anything.

Re: What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
Things will escalate? Starting tomorrow, no one will even remember what happened. Except us, of course. They'll review, and say "internal actions will be take, and the conference will offer no further comment"

You expect the league to act decisively? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all. -
Re: What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
Nothing is going to happen. The fact that they are reviewing the final minute is done only to placate the masses who noted there were some poor calls and no-calls. But officiating is subjective and there were a number of calls that could have gone either way earlier in the game. The issue in this game is not necessarily just the no-call on the charge, but also the ensuing call against Niang on the floor in the scrum, as well as the fact that Withey was still in the game when Young took account for his foul.
But in the end, nothing will change. We will see these refs again. We can only hope that the national attention on their ineptitude will push them to do better in the future.

Re: What if the Big XII fails to act decisively?
And realistically, what is the best case scenario you are hoping for? They're not reversing the result, obviously. And any other conclusion that comes of the review is equally meaningless.
