Iowa State's Resume as of today
2 wins vs top 50 (home vs Kansas State and Oklahoma). No top 50 road wins (Baylor was a top 50 road win, but they have completely fallen in the toilet). No signature out of conference wins. Two bad losses (texas and texas tech). Need to win Wednesday and at least one in big 12's to be in...two losses = NIT..Thoughts?

Hopefully our RPI hangs in the 50s. It was 54 before the game.

I don't think we are going to get any credit for close losses. Let's win three in a row and leave no doubt.

Re: Iowa State's Resume as of today
Our resume may not be great, but it's better than a lot of the other bubble teams' resumes.

A win would have been huge today, mainly because the season is on the brink. But our NCAA tournament resume is right there with the 15 or so teams that are probably battling for 8 spots.

Re: Iowa State's Resume as of today
a loss at home to Okie State would damage the RPI more than todays loss at Oklahoma, but not as bad as a loss at WVU...I guess at some point RPI is not relevant if a team continues to lose (ie Baylor)

Re: Iowa State's Resume as of today
I think we need to win 2 of the last 3 to guarantee a spot. If we lose to OSU and OU but beat WV we'd still be on the bubble, but it'll all depend on what is happening with teams around us.

There are just too many teams that are going to get in with bad RPI's. All those horrible conference winners that make it in will have terrible RPI's, and of course you will also have some teams win conference championships in their tourney's that have no business being in the dance also. I think in order to be comfortably in we need to get the RPI in the forties.

I think in order to be comfortably in we need to get the RPI in the forties. this is the real wildcard in determining how many at large berths there actually will be...if a team like UNI makes a run and wins the Mo Valley, there goes an at large spot for one of the BCS conference teams. Also, a BCS conference team on the outside right now can make a run in their tourney (not even win it) and get in. Teams like ISU with a shaky resume don't want to be squarely on the bubble headed into the last weekend before selection sunday, too much bad **** can happen.

Re: Iowa State's Resume as of today
CBS Sports' Take: Iowa State: Most people expected more from the Cyclones on Saturday. After suffering a heartbreaking loss to Kansas on Monday, making a statement and bouncing back against Oklahoma would have been huge. Instead, they got handled relatively easily, and are now in a dangerous position. They still have a home game against Oklahoma State and a season-ending road trip to West Virginia. Iowa State needs to win both, and then do damage in the Big 12 tournament. Going 2-6 against the top 50 isn't a plus, especially when there are two sub-100 losses. The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012.
