I think what we want to avoid is playing a really good team with a good fan base in their backyard. Indiana in Indianapolis, MSU or Michigan in Auburn Hills, Duke on the East coast. I'm not afraid of any team, but add in the home court and iSU is in trouble. If I were to pick teams to avoid it would be ones with good post games. Imagine what Zeller would do to Niang. He'd be on the bench two minutes in. The way Niang and Ejim foul ISU needs to avoid teams with dynamic front courts.

ESPN has us out of the play in game, but not by much......saturday would go a long ways into seeding protection.

Bracket update: Another wild Wednesday - Men's College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

PS - Iowa is not on an also considering list.

We have a few more victories left in us before Selection Sunday!

Certainly don't want to see an #8 or #9.

(I selected to make this a poll... but it didn't get offered to me.)
We've got a ton of work to do if we want a #7 seed. The Big 12 isn't considered as one of the stronger conferences this year. That said, if we beat WVU, and have a good run in the conference tourney, it's possible.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right!!

Re: Should we go to the Big Dance... Where will we be seeded???

If, and it's a big IF, we were to not just run the Big 12 Tournament, but roll just about every team we play, perhaps we play our way to a 6. I mean, beating OSU the way we did last night, and then beating a good OU team, a top 10 KU team, and then either KSU or OSU (again) for the championship would beef up what so far is kind of a weakish resume. Not to mention that might give us even more credence in that screwjob in Hilton.

However, I don't disagree that 7 might be about the best we're going to do. Just needed one of those other close ones to go our way.

Guys, ESPN says we aren't even in for sure yet. We are still very much on the bubble.

    OMG!!! TIME TO PANIC!!!

Next thing you're going to tell us is we're on the outside looking in because Jerry Palm isn't even considering us for his bracket.

This is all speculative BS. Discussion. In reality right now we're on the inside and playing for seeding.

Re: Should we go to the Big Dance... Where will we be seeded???

Is it just me, or have all the Bracketologist forgotten that we were absolutely jobbed about a week ago?

If we were sitting at 21-9 tied for 4th in the Big 12 and owning wins over the 2nd and 3rd place teams in the last week, it seems like we'd be at least an 8 or 9 right now. I'm not saying that's what we deserve, but the fact that we've only got 4 teams behind us per Lunardi right now (I assume that's an 11 or 12) just seems too low to me.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda, let's start the NCAA with a 24-10 record and not have to worry about it I guess.

People forget things very quickly. Only reason it was such a huge national issue is because it was Big Monday. Since then #1 seeds have lost, conference realignment issues, the bubble discussion, etc, have been more important. In reality one play in one game does not a season make.

If it is like Lunardi says and we are the last team with a bye, there would be 8 teams behind us since there are 4 play-in games.

4 of those teams are auto-bids from conferences champions (16 seeds) and 4 are at-large bids. ISU is the 5th-to-last at-large team in the field right now according to Lunardi. The auto-bid teams don't matter for this discussion.

That's right, I forgot the 2 were 16/16 games and the other 2 were 12/12ish games.

Re: Should we go to the Big Dance... Where will we be seeded???

I always thought that the #13 thru #16 seeds were usually conference champs from those weaker conf.
I just want an honest shot at making the sweet 16. ...so anything but an 8-9 will keep me happy.

Not to mention, in 2000 the NCAA selection committee said they made a mistake placing Mich. St. in a position to make it to Auburn Hills. And along with the bias of Michigan St. graduate AND current head of officiating Curtis Shaw, this is why I want to play these bozo's one more time on a more nutural court. say, Wells Fargo or someplace like that.
