Wes Johnson's injury improving
Sorry if this has already been posted...
Sounds like his foot is getting better! Hopefully by conference play he will be back to almost normal.
Also, looks like the medical redshirt is out of the question now. ISU basketball: Johnson's injured foot 'progressing' | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register -
Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
I am glad he is not red shirting any more. He wouldn't have stayed that 5th year anyway.

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
sounds like a go for big 12 play

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
Good, I'm glad. I know it would be nice to have Wesley at full health for his complete career, but it's the job the staff to recruit players to take his place. Like a freshman Harrison Barnes that can come in and pick up his minutes.

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
Man, that is great news...I thought he looked like he was moving better in the Iowa game, a healthy WJ will really help.

Wesley likely not to redshirt.
After reading this quote in the Rag. Sorry if this has been discussed and posted already. I was on Welch for a good 7 hours last night so I'm behind on my news
"I did think about red-shirting a couple times," Johnson said. "But I want to play this year. I want to help my team."
I'm happy because he's fun to watch and we have a whole lof of season left. Anything can happen.

Good the redshirt idea was ********.

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
I hope we only need to use him sparingly in some of these pre-conference games. I know he wants to play. But if it helps him get to 100%, I'd rather see him on the bench unless "needed".

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
Because that is giving up on the season. We all know a 50% WJ is better than no WJ.

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
I didn't find it ******** for a few reasons...
- Not fair to ask a guy to play that many games through a rather painful injury
- He can't practice much at this point, so he's not getting the proper preparation
- Without practice, he's not getting the full sophomore year progress
- We're not going anywhere this season, with or without him
If he's healthy or at least close to it, by all means play the guy. It would suck watching this team without him.
But I certainly never (and still don't) found the redshirt idea to be ********. I liked the prospect of having Garrett, Brackins and Wesley graduate together.

Assuming all of those guys would use all four years of eligibility, and Wesley would stay all 5 years. I find that unlikely if he keeps developing.
As it is, we'll have to settle for Brackins, Lucca, Diante, and Boozer graduating at the same time, and that still ain't too shabby at all.

Re: Wes Johnson's injury improving
He never wanted to redshirt, it was the staff that was suggesting and wanting it.
