Marty and Miller
I dont listen to M&M much anymore due to the fact I get tierd of Marty kissing Jerry Crawford's behind and his talk on the Energy. When I do happen to tune in it seems each time he brings up ISU BB he says stuff like they are a lowsy team, they are bad, they are terrable, they are not very good, and so on and so on. He just doesn't say it once but over and over again to everyone including national media people. Do we really need this, does he really need to drive it into the ground like he does. I guess he would rather talk about how Roger Clemons didnt use roids, and how great Drake basketball is (if ISU were 9-1 he would say we need to calm down on ISU BB it is a fake record and they have not played anyone. It just drives me crazy that some local meida does not give ISU and respect.

Re: Marty and Miller
You're lucky - or maybe not.
I haven't heard them say much of ANYTHING about ISU basketball. Too much Energy, baseball Mitchell report, etc.
Maybe it's a good thing if they're bagging us a ton.
BTW - Welcome.

Re: Marty and Miller
Respect must be earned. Losing to UNI, Drake and Bradley, all three, in 2 consecutive seasons does not help earn respect.
McD will get us respect. Just stinks because it feels like we've been in rebuilding mode forever.

Re: Marty and Miller
Don't listen - I stopped listening a long time age (after Deace left) and my frustration level has dropped to near zero. However, I do miss sports talk radio on my way home in the afternoons. -
Re: Marty and Miller
I enjoy their show but I am getting a little tired of them trying to be a national show for the last few weeks.

Re: Marty and Miller
It's funny to listen to them hype the iowa energy... they're playing before 300 people a game... I know of junior high teams that draw better...

Re: Marty and Miller
I'm not sure you listen all the time because he's said good thing about ISU football before, he constantly knocks both Iowa FB and basketball, he's bluntly honest about how we are not a good BB team but he has said good things as well. And he thinks Clemens did roids, not sure where you got that. Weds. night he was going off about how Jessica Simpson is a no talent "dope" which was pretty funny.
I'll agree he does kiss butt to Jerry Crawford and that is because he gets a paycheck for doing the Iowa Energy play by play. He's kissed some other butt too if he gets pay or benefits from them and Ken has called him a prostitute for it because now he has to defend these people every time there is controversy. I used to hate Marty too, I still think he gets a little overboard but the Marty and Miller show is a ton better than it was when they started and I think they are equal-opportunity "haters." Win and get respect, lose and you don't.

Re: Marty and Miller
I don't mind them hyping the Energy. I hope they do well in Des Moines.

Re: Marty and Miller
I have a love/hate relationship with them. I go a few days without listening b/c they ****** me off and then I go back until they **** me off again.
I met them at the fair this year and got my pic with them. They were really nice to me there. But, at some points in the year, they are just tabloid radio and nothing else.

I'm kind of the same way, some days I can't stand Marty then some days I actually agree with him. They do it for ratings. You all are here talking about what they are saying so 1) you are helping them by listening and 2) they are doing their job if they've got you riled up one way or another about something.

Re: Marty and Miller
Local sports (colleges) get worked to death on Miller's show so we need Marty and Miller to give a regional/national scope of things. I also like the fact that they don't shy away from asking touchy questions.

Re: Marty and Miller
I think Marty and Miller are the best thing going in local radio. And it isn't even close. Just listen for the entertainment value and you'll be fine. The way I see it, one day they're boiling ISU fans' blood and the next day Iowa's. No big deal. You can't expect them to say everything is great when it isn't. And I enjoy the national stuff mixed in. Makes for a well rounded program. I'd much rather listen to that than what's happening in women's volleyball, soccer or some other sport no one cares about.

Re: Marty and Miller
Yeah old Marty will take one subject or one topic and run it in the ground for the entire season...aka isu basketball ... u of i football and yada yada yada.
And your rite that old Marty was ripping on isu b-ball pretty good and will continue to do that until isu gets back to the Larry Eustacy years of winning conference championships and NOT LOSING to DRAKE and Northern Iowa!!
This is the same Marty that has never given Iowa State credit for anything AND NEVER WILL BOYS!!
The only thing I can tell you is "Listen at your own Peril"...could be a rocky road for awhile!!

Re: Marty and Miller
I guess it is just hard to listen when your team is not doing very good, and it gets pointed out a lot. The Cyclone family just needs a daily voice on local raido.
