Barnes and Appleton

Harrison was apparently at the Texas Southern game sitting with Lucca, and we know Appleton was there. I was wondering if they talked at all, about going to ISU and things like that

I personally think Appleton is a long-shot.

Harrison is at a lot of games and at this point he's a must get because of all the time he's spent there and how much we could use him. I usually don't say anybody is a must get but if anybody else were able to get him after all the love he's been shown, that would be tragic.

I agree that it would be tragic if we didn't get Barnes. He is at a lot of the games and if he pays attention he should be somewhat familiar with the offensive and defensive schemes and how the system works. He would also familiar with our players. Not a lot of recruits have the luxury to come to a lot of games and meet the players and learn the system.

Don't forget that he PLAYS with a lot of the players during off-season pick-up games.

Ripvdub mentioned last game that when we hear news about Lucca that we should then change the chants to "Commit Barnes" or something along those lines.

Exactly. When he's ready to decide I don't think anyone can hold a candle to the love we've shown him.

From what I saw during the CC League and the scrimmages last fall he is well connected with the program, players, and staff. Cy even sat by him at the game this week.

I even have my wife convinced that we need to shell out for parquet seats after 2010 so I certainly hope we are watching a 'fab five' like class of Dykstra, Barnes, Stevens, ______, and _______...

I've seen Barnes play in the pick up games against ISU players, and he has had moments where he looks as good as some of our current players, if not better.

BTW, big game tonight in Ames. Ames vs Valley. Should be a good game and a chance to see Barnes tear it up.

But sometimes, love and connection aren't enough. What if he wants to pursue an academic program that ISU doesn't offer? What if he decides that he wants to win a national title? Is GMac putting together the talent around him to accomplish that goal? Even, is his girlfriend attending a different school? I guess that's another kind of love.

There are a lot of factors that we can't look inside his head to see, so while I'd love to have Harrison, should he choose to go elsewhere, as the son of one of my favorite players, someone who was a cornerstone under Johnny, I would wish him well.

Thats true Jeremy really tragic if he just blew us off
