Of course they'd be blindly chanting with CA insted but... it'd atleast be clean wholesome fun that they want....
There seems to be a tug of war going on right now in the Alley - things were cleaning up for a while but there has been a little bit of a resurgence of the "You suck" insted of "Go State"
I'm not sure if "Don't know the words" ever went away because to be honest, most people probally still don't know the words. Telling the not to swear isn't going to change that one...
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

I haven't had a chance to go through this entire thread and read it, but this story relates exactly to what we're talking about: El Paso Times - NMSU basketball chant will result in technical foul -

Ahem...this story relates in GENERAL to what we're talking about.
I could see the refs handing out technical fouls for the use of organized vulgar chants toward the opposing team and/or their players. Obviously, they wouldn't give us a T for Go Cyclones Go! because it isn't directed at anyone.

This made me laugh:
Spanish replacement words also will be met with technical fouls.
Dang, they thought of everything....except sign language!

Agree. JJ said it best.... all the profanity is just low class. We can have a great home court advantage without it. We did once and we could again.
It's also entirely possible that if it doesn't get toned down, Cyclone Alley could go away. Maybe these emails are a shot across the bow to the students.... I really don't know.
JP went out of his way to get the students great seats to make them happy and get them involved and to gain some home court advantage. It's entirely possible that he could reverse his decision on this and send the students back to the balcony, where they used to be. Pure speculation on my part obviously.

That could very possibly be the case.
It's happened before under Gene.

I can guarantee that Cyclone Alley won't change because of these emails.

It will only change if the students take leadership or ownership on the change

Re: Pollard's and Jeff Johnson's email to Cyclone alley
Some students are still in the balcony, FYI. Also, back when I first started college there were quite a few students still in the balcony and we still had the "rotation" where you only got to sit in the lower bowl for a few games. I don't know if going back to this system would be "sending the students back to the balcony where they used to be." Was there a time where students were only in the balcony? Maybe you're talking about when we played in the Armory.

Maybe you're talking about when we played in the Armory. I think one of the first years that Gene moved the students into a single "section", it was pretty much balcony only. It was purely a money move and he didn't even deny it.
After some wrangling, they got the lower end(s). But I don't think that was the initial plan.
That was after I graduated, but not long after. Don't know if we went a season with no students down low or not.
But I do remember the hoopla surrounding that move.
