Credits: 594,001 | Could Wesley play his way to the NBA THIS Year? I think the guy will be gone after next year for sure. He is just so talented, one of the most talented players anyone in this state has ever had.
I know that is saying a lot, but from the first few games he played at ISU, that guy just oozed ability...and he is nowhere near his upside.
I think there is a chance that he could play his way into the first round of the NBA draft this year.

You need to stay here for 4 years.

He's definitely a great talent and I agree he will be gone after next year. I just don't think many people outside of the Big 12 know who the kid is yet.

I think talk of him going early is a little premature. Plus, it's almost a jinx at ISU. People talked even during Stinson's first year that he would leave early and Blalock had similar comments about him. Neither improved a lot in their sophomore and junior seasons, then left early and aren't exactly having the careers (so far) that they had hoped for.

And if that is what it meant then sure it would be a big hit but I could live with it

I think there is a chance that he could play his way into the first round of the NBA draft this year. I like the smug smile he gets on his face after a big shot. I like it alot better than the pissed off I am going to kill you face most players have after a big play.
He looks like he is having alot of fun being a student athlete. I think he wants to play with these guys for a while.

He probably should finish the season with at least a 19 point average then and 6 boards. His team also should make some noise in post season. | EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. The one thing we have going for us with Wesley is that he's an absolute great kid and I think he knows what he means to the fans and I think we mean a lot to him. He's very mature and knows that he can be something far more special at Iowa State over the next couple years.
I think he'll be here next year and will strongly consider staying for his senior year. Obviously it has to come down to a personal decision for what it means to him but I don't think he's the typical kid that will look to go pro at the earliest opportunity. He has a strong desire to be the best he can be and I think that goes beyond just on the court. |

Wesley's good, but there's at least eight players in the big 12 that are better. He might be a 2nd team Big 12 player right now. Give him at least one more year to gain strength and weight.
I think he can make it, but not this year, esp. with the freshman ready-for-the-NBA class now. He needs strength, and he needs to clarify what position he'd play in the NBA. Is he a 2 or 3? A year or two should staighten both these issues.

I think another year will do him good. Mac can keep him here by saying look at where the last 3 guys that left ISU earily are now. He is very good though. I hope he stays for another year because if this team keeps getting better at this rate he could lead the team to special things next year.
What did you think about the rest of the game Jon? | I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

He needs to improve his defense this year to be pro level. | EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Another thing to remember is that similar things were being said about Blythe very early in his career and then he hit a wall and never really got back up to that elite status. I don't think that's anywhere near a possibility with Wesley because of his character but it's something to keep in the back of your head when talking about these things.
Wesley has some growing to do, as amazing as that is to believe, and by the time he gets to his peak - he's going to be head and shoulders above anything we've ever seen in this state. I can see Wesley being a legitimate top 5 pick by the time he's a senior - once everybody knows about him. |
