kansas and missouri was a game
colorado and texas was a game
texas a&m loses again
we are currently lone 4th in conference
looking at our remaining schedule i see 8 or 9 winable games of 13 left. thats assuming we lose both kansas games, lose at a&m, and lose at texas
i'm not saying we win 8 or 9 more games but i think we will be very competitive with how even the big 12 is playing out this far. I can't wait to see how we play with kansas on wednesday, that will be the real gauge on how we are progressing
Take a second look at Kansas State, then. They look mighty tough, and it'll be a fight to get one game from them, let alone two. About the only thing going for us in those games is Cyclone-killer David Hoskins is finished for the year.
I really want to be optimistic and drink the kool aid but I'm holding out for a few more games. Lots of us drank the koo aid last year after the 2-1 start and it blew up in our faces in February. I'm definitely happy/proud of the way these guys are playing right now, though.
I am looking at the schedule and I am trying to find a road game we can win. I just don't see it. Though I am basing this on past history. But I ranked the road games by the most likek to win first:
@Nebraska: 50/50 ISU wins on road but most likely lose at home, always seem to split.
@Missouri: 45/55 Only because they won last year.
@Texas Tech: 40/60 look like middle of the pack Big 12 team this year, but they still have Bobby Knight.
@Colorado: 40/60 May be worst team in Big 12 but when is the last time ISU has looked good in Colorado. Seems like ISU's worst game will be this one.
@Oklahoma: 30/70 I think guards will win the battle for Oklahoma in this one.
@Kansas St: 20/80 I really hope the bigs for ISU show up or this will not be close.
@Kansas: 10/90 I am still giving them a chance, but I think ISU has two players that could make the Kansas roster.
Seeing ISU win today gives me hope but I think they will only get four more wins the rest of the year. I hope I am wrong.
We definitely have some talented players. But playing on the road vs at home is like night and day in terms of difficulty in the Big 12. If we can continue to hold our opposition in the 60's, work out our problems handling the ball and shoot a high percentage from three opening up the inside for Brackins who knows. We are starting to click on offense and the last 13 games we have not lost any if we held our opponent under 70 points. Lets hope we can take it to the next level in a few of the 7 remaining VERY TOUGH road games.
